IDFC card upgrade process?

hgupta

TF Select
I have an IDFC First Bank Millennia Credit Card with a limit of ₹45,000 and want to upgrade it to a Wealth Card or Select Card. I also have a savings account with IDFC First Bank with a minimum balance of ₹25,000. Despite talking to customer care and branch representatives, they are not upgrading my card. I even offered to change my savings account to a Select Account, but they still refused. They told me that I can't have two lifetime cards, and instead offered me the Ashva and Mayura cards, which have charges. I've tried emailing them multiple times with required documents, but my card limit hasn't been increased, and my card hasn't been upgraded. My queries are-

1. Will emailing the PNO help?
2. Why isn't the bank offering to upgrade my card even if I upgrade my savings account? Should I change my home branch?
3. If I close my Millennia Card and apply for a new card through the app, can I get a Select Card or Wealth Card? A year ago, someone from Techno Fino used this trick; will it still work? If it works, should I apply for a Wealth Card directly or go for a Select Card first and then upgrade to a Wealth Card?

With 45000 limit, AFAIK you cannot get Select or Wealth CC upgrade. First send them the Financial documents and try to increase the Credit Limit.
1. Will emailing the PNO help?
Yes, they might help on increasing the limit. Usually Select CC requires 3L Credit Limit, Wealth CC requires 5L Credit Limit. But there are cases including mine having Wealth CC without 5L Credit limit.
2. Why isn't the bank offering to upgrade my card even if I upgrade my savings account? Should I change my home branch?
Having Savings account doesn't mean bank can offer you high variant CC, both are different.

There are cases people closed and applied with different mobile number and got the new cards with higher limits, but seems that option is patched for now. So talk to RM or BM and increase the Credit Limit by sending your Financial documents first.

As per my knowledge if u have relationship banking with IDFC (in your case Select banking) u can get your existing credit card upgraded to the variant of your relationship banking.
In my case I was issued a classic cc with only 1lakh limit but I wanted wealth cc. So I upgraded my 25k savings account to the wealth programme and then raised a request by calling customer care to upgrade my classic card to wealth based on my banking relationship. They obliged. Now I have a wealth cc with 1lakh limit 😅

So upgrading the account is an option to upgrade the credit card and limit inhancement?
