ICICI Sapphiro Visa/MC to Rupay Conversion is Active Now

Hi everyone, I contacted ICICI customer care and itseems Saphhiro Visa/MC to Rupay conversion is active now. But they are saying that they will cancel existing card/s. I have asked to provide it as an additional LTF card. Lets see. SS attached.


If they do not agree for additional, would it make sense converting and cancelling existing variants?

Update 1: They rejected to provide additional Rupay variant.
"We regret to inform you that as per the bank policy we are unable to provide multiple variants as lifetime free or chargeable."

Update 2: Customer Care informed that Sapphiro Rupay is being issued in Platinum Variant.

Update 3: @Abhishek012 confirmed Sapphiro Rupay is being issued in Select Variant.

According to my friend in credit cards.. a card will stay active till 45days from card closing date (for any emis/refunds/mandates to close). After that they will report card closing to cibil(with in 90days from closing date) now that banks are reporting twice in a month it will be less than 90days but only after 45days. So they are correct this time

Its not true for ICICI if you hold ICICI Gemstone cards then only one account created for all gemstone cards.
If you have Coral card and later you get sapphiro then you closed coral card, technically your coral card closed but they still active untill you closed sapphiro card too..

May be right for icici, but 45days is mandatory for any card of any bank i think

Nope. I closed one of my BOB credit cards last month. I checked cibil report after 2 weeks. It showed as closed.
May have been closed earlier than that

That's something I heard from customer care as well. However in my case I did not close the first card (Coral Visa). I only closed Coral Rupay which I got afterwards. If you're saying I can't close any cards, then it's really dumb system that ICICI has.

It did not work for me. I closed my Coral Rupay on 5th Aug but I don't see any Rupay CC offer anywhere. I'm holding Sapphiro Dual LTF for more than 3 months.
Tried applying and leaving the application in middle but they are saying that my rupay card hasn't been closed on account level yet so I can't get new offers. Apparently your card will still be attached to your account even after closing it somehow. Weird. Will go to branch for a written complaint someday.

I don't see an option to DM you somehow. What is the risk btw?

RuPay is not add-on card but yes you can apply 3rd Sapphiro card on RuPay variant (your all 3 Sapphiro cards statement will be same).

The Rupay variant needs a separate application, or is it something that I can request ICICI to issue and send over, assuming I already have the LTF MC+Amex dual?

Read the comments—many people have also got the 3rd Sapphiro card (RuPay variant) as LTF, along with Sapphiro Amex + Mastercard LTF.

The trick they used was:

1. Some people half-filled the Sapphiro RuPay card form on the ICICI website and then closed the browser. The next day, they got a call from ICICI, asking if a pre-approved Sapphiro RuPay variant was available as LTF. For some, it was available, and they applied.
2. Same trick, but using the iMobile app—half-applied and then left it. Next day, ICICI called and asked if the pre-approved Sapphiro RuPay variant was available as LTF. For some, it was, and they applied.
3. Some people simply tweeted on Twitter asking for the additional Sapphiro RuPay variant LTF without closing Sapphiro Amex + Mastercard LTF.

When you get a call, ask specifically that along with Sapphiro Amex + Mastercard LTF, you also want this 3rd card—the Sapphiro RuPay variant LTF.

Now, some ICICI executives say that the old Sapphiro Amex + Mastercard LTF cards will be closed, while some ICICI executives say that along with the old cards, you will also get this new Sapphiro card (RuPay variant) as LTF.
