I also received same conversion not possible mail.

Received another mail, conversion not possible currently, only possible while new applications and/or renewal.
So better luck with another try when it's about a year of issuing card

After trying to convince them for over 2 weeks they told to check back in May for the conversion to Rupay

Hey have you tried converting Airtel Axis to Rupay variant? Also please share the email id where you sent it.

My friend just got it converted he told he will close the card and placed a request to close the card and they called him back and the retention team agreed for network change to Rupay along with a few reward points which was credited to his other axis bank credit card as a retention bonus
