Today, I received a few WhatsApp messages - initially about an online job. After a while, they offered me ₹120 to post a 5-star review.
I posted this review on the given link:
Here’s how I responded to them:
By the way, here’s how this scam typically works:
First, they give you a small task and pay something like ₹120 - just to build trust. Then comes a “paid task” where you’re asked to invest ₹500 to post a fake review on Google Maps or similar platforms, with a promise of ₹800 in return.
The offers then escalate: invest ₹1,000 to get ₹1,500… and it keeps going. Eventually, they convince you to send ₹10,000, ₹20,000, or even ₹40,000–₹50,000. Once you send a big amount - they vanish. No money, no task, and you realize you’ve been scammed.
That initial ₹120 wasn’t a reward, it was bait.
P.S. My review for the hotel will be deleted soon—I just posted it for fun. This scam has nothing to do with the hotel.
And please don’t even think about posting reviews just to earn ₹120 or so. Receiving payments from scammers can put you at risk of having your bank account frozen by authorities.
