@SamPtnk got charged for it, and he is still fighting with bank as far as I know.

@JethalalGada also confirmed recently, and he got told the same.

It was free previously, now new saving max user is getting it charged. Don't know why though. Old customers are still enjoying it free.

Unless you have something in writing, you should share it so it can help these two people. You can read above thread.

I am enjoying it free myself based on the logic I mentioned. I am unaware of any recent changes.

While opening my account I had asked for a Millennia DC based on the argument that any DC upto my entitlement of a free Platinum DC should also be free. I was then issued a free Millennia DC.

As far as any written document is concerned, I later found my argument corroborated by HDFC's published list of DC Fees & Charges which clearly mentions that any DC upto and including the Platinum DC is indeed free for HNW customers.

Since their HNW programs come with a Savings Max account which is also entitled to a free Platinum DC, one can always ask (preferably in writing) for a lower card based on the same argument.

But HDFC is a devious bank loathe to divulge much in writing. They also allow their employees to take advantage of the grey areas to squeeze out of customers whatever they can, -- at times even resorting to blatant misinformation.

It all boils down to an ability to negotiate with them from a position of strength in order to extract anything out of them that is not clearly defined.

I'd do all negotiations with them in writing, and be prepared to move away with my business if necessary.

Agreed, just one correction saving max isn't HNW anymore. In fact, they have recently started opening saving max for metro cities, not giving any option to lower account variant. Though, I personally feel saving max is indeed very good account.

It's still stupid that they are charging new customers for the millennia DC, but not old users. Well, sad era we are in, 👍🏻
