Hotel Points HDFC Marriot Bonvoy Free Night Redemption. How to get free breakfast?

Hi team,
So I finally put in a request for redemption of the 1 free night on marriot bonvoy.
This enables me to get a standard room worth 15k points at max. Over and above the points will get deducted from my account.
However, there is no option to select free breakfast or anything like that.
How do I go about getting in a request for Free Breakfast?
Can someone please help me out with this?

Solution

A simple search would have fetch you multiple results. Just go through the experiences of many users.

Answer to your question is you will not have breakfast free in Marriott redemption, completely depends on the property you visit to provide...
I am just getting started on my Mariott journey, so far I have not stayed in any luxury hotel like Mariott chain.
I am getting started on the Mariott journey using the HDFC Mariott Bonvoy card.

I have some very basic questions - Mariott experts please help to answer.
1. Do the joining benefit 15000 points get credited to our MB wallet automatically after getting the card? How many days/months it will take to get those points + silver status?
1. I have given my MB loyalty account number while applying for the card, hope it will get linked automatically and
2. How to redeem the free night award of 15000 points? Is it just enough to book a hotel (like any normal booking) and use the points? Or is there any specific way to redeem the FNA?
3. I understand we can add our points on top of what we get (15000) for free. Is it correct that we can add a maximum of 15k on top of the free 15k? (That means total 30k)
4. How long does it take for card usage points to come into MB account? Is it same as neu coins? (3-4 days after the statement generation)

Apart from these, any other tips to make the best use of this card? I know Mariott journey will be best with Amex cards, but as of now, Amex is not issuing any cards and I will wait for Amex to open up applications.

  • Joining Benefit: The Marriott Bonvoy HDFC Bank Credit Card offers a Free Night Award (FNA) worth up to 15,000 points and 10 Elite Night Credits (which help you reach Silver Elite status) after paying the joining/annual fee.
  • Crediting Timeline:
    • 10 Elite Night Credits: These are usually credited to your Marriott Bonvoy account within 60 days after paying the joining/annual fee, but recent improvements suggest it may now happen within three weeks after your first spend transaction on the card.
    • Free Night Award (FNA): The FNA is generally credited within 12 weeks after paying the joining/annual fee, but recent updates indicate it could be credited within three weeks after your first spend transaction on the card.
  • Silver Elite Status: You automatically become eligible for Silver Elite status after the Elite Night Credits are credited to your account.
  • Account Linking: If you provided your Marriott Bonvoy loyalty number during the application, it should be automatically linked to your card.
  • If Not Linked: You can also call HDFC and confirm the Bonvoy account id linked with the card.
  • FNA Redemption: The Free Night Award (FNA) is equivalent to a one-night stay at a Marriott property requiring up to 15,000 points. You can use it just like a regular booking on the Marriott website or app, but you must select the "Use Free Night Award" option during the booking process.
  • How to Use:
    • Log in to your Marriott Bonvoy account.
    • Search for your desired hotel and dates.
    • If standard award availability exists, select the room and apply your FNA during checkout.
    • You can only book one room at a time with each FNA.
  • Topping Up with Points: You can combine your FNA with up to 15,000 additional Marriott Bonvoy points. This means you can use your FNA for a stay worth up to 30,000 points (15,000 from the FNA + 15,000 from your points)
  • Redemption Example: If a hotel night costs 28,000 points, you can use your FNA (15,000 points) and add 13,000 points from your account to cover the cost.
  • Points Transfer: Points earned through card spends are typically transferred to your Marriott Bonvoy account automatically at the end of each billing cycle. These points usually appear in your Marriott account shortly after the statement is generated, often within a few days, similar to other HDFC reward programs

Thanks, @da3m0n for the detailed response.
In my application process I experienced a little bit different. Got SMS that card is approved and it became visible in MyCards and Payzapp 2 days back.
Yesterday, Mariott app showed Silver Elite status already (0 nights and 0 points though). That means my account linking has happened successfully. I had provided the account while applying. -- so basically silver elite came first. Nights and FNA will come after paying the joining fee. I will update when it gets reflected.
