Millennia HDFC is denying me credit balance refund

I have around 1200 excess in my millenia credit card, which I already paid Rs59 redemption. Now since I didn't not plan on using it somewhere, I requested them for a credit balance refund, which they denied.

Can they actually deny this? As per RBI guidelines it should be refunded correct?
Do they have the right to deny this... anyone would like to share your thoughts... please!

They may deny the request by saying cashback can't be transferred sir

Tell me that you want to speak to their senior or escalation team on this eventually they will take the request and should get done in 2-3 days.

I remember, I paid extra in Citi bank credit card. They asked me bank statement from where I transferred extra amount to citi credit card for processing credit balance refund.

May be it's a rule from RBI only that bank is liable to refund only extra paid amount.

I had a scenario with Axis, where they refunded Rs1000, which I received as cashback for doing tap and pay with GPay. There was no denial, got refunded in 5 days after requesting.

Here since they charged me 59 for redemption, it's my choice how to use the amount right. This amount is real cash on my card which I already paid for and earned with fair usage.
