Electricity Problem MVVNL UPPCL

I’m facing a serious and recurring issue with my electricity provider — MVVNL (Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd.), which falls under UPPCL.

In my society, there are three electricity phases, and unfortunately, the 3rd phase (which I am on) is almost always problematic. Every now and then, electricity goes out for one reason or another. It’s become a regular struggle.

Let me give you a recent example:
  • Electricity went out at 10 PM last night.
  • We called the local office, and after just 2–3 calls, they started making the phone line busy or just stopped picking up.
  • We registered multiple complaints via customer care. Each time, they said “issue will be resolved in 4 hours” – but nothing happened.
  • Even today, we personally went to the local power house, and still it took another 4–5 hours before anything was done.
  • The supply finally got restored only around 5 PM today — that’s nearly 19–20 hours without electricity!
  • We were awake the entire night just trying to follow up.
  • Even there CUSTOMER CARE hangs up the call directly - worst executives!

I’ve tolerated a lot in the past, but what makes it worse is how they use tactics like switching off phones, making lines busy, avoiding responsibility, even customer care hanging up you call – leaving us hanging for hours and hours.

I need your help.

Please guide me on:
  • Where exactly should I complain (PG Portal, Consumer Helpline etc.)?
  • How can I push for a permanent solution, not just temporary repairs?
  • Is there a way to demand compensation or hold them accountable legally?
Any help, steps, or guidance would be greatly appreciated. We’ve suffered enough. I’m done staying silent and just want to fix this once and for all.

Then what's the issue, write an application to change your phase to any other one and submit that to your local feeder which covers your area.

I'm assuming you don't have changeover in the house, which let's you change phase within it else there wouldn't be any issues.

Yes, changing the phase — that we would get done of course.
But it’s not just about that. Even when multiple phases go down or the entire supply is affected, these people still don’t pick up calls, and we’re left suffering for hours without any communication or support.
That’s why I want to raise this properly and make sure it doesn’t keep happening.


Many houses don't even change load after installing multiple ACs there is people's fault too.

Multiple phase issue is different, that's the whole line is down or something wrong in the area.

If that particular phase is creating the issue, you can always change it or upgrade your house to 3 phase connection, you will get a changeover, makes the life easy.

We will again have to upgrade our load first 🙁

Understandable, maybe post on X or ask neighbours and go together (5-6 families) to your local feeder.

I know there is one transformer directly from there problem always occurs they always make repair and run away.

dont know what they do and it again happens
then I understand some faults also occurs sometimes

and as soon as fault occur they close the phones and sit back
cuz they know people will call so they get ready as soon as calls are about to come.

yeah we visited several times, whenever problem arrives we have to visit them to get it resolved kaha hi sunte hai phone se
but local authorities se kuch nhi hora

tried to contact mvvnl but they don't reply in DM huhh
kya karu inki customer care bhi gf se jyada nakhre dikhati hai

computer wali bhasha bolti hai then phone cut kardeti
 
If it is happening to many houses then maybe someone around you is stealing power which leads to phase going down in your locality. People from feeder needs to come and check the actual load in your colony because as you said it happens very often. Only then they can know the reason. This kind of thing happened in past also to a known and trust me it was someone who after 9PM in night were stealing power for illegal work under the basement of house. They were arrested later and nothing sort of happened after that.

The best thing is make a complaint together with 9-10 neighbours and keep pressuring them.

I need info. on do the society has distributed power using a single three phase line? If yes then other two phases are also having ommon phase which is called neutral and unfortunately load on common phase bring down a weaker phase and the 3rd one you have, here is problematic.

So first plas confirm what is distrribution plan of electricity there?
 
Just thinking if there is a system to put pressure on them from some higher department that's why named NCH and PG portal.
These wont help until unless you have some powerful connections. Over time we had to establish one with good people.

India is a country where common man is destined to suffer.

Anyways, start with filing grievence on their portal first and keep moving further. A direct compaint at pgportal wont help the cause.
 
Based on the circumstances, first try to discover the root cause of the problem. If it is a regular phenomenon then you as a citizen has the right to raise the issue.

Find all relevant email ids and then sent them together the proof of inefficiency of staff. Authority here I mean to say upto State power ministry, cmo, Including dm office, secretary concerned, distributor. Including lower level officer in the related department.

Shoot some follow up email every week. Hope somebody might able to notice and do the needful. It gonna be a tough task but worth trying. Avoid personal information sharing and represent as if whole society is suffering.

If someone work in up State secretariat may able to guide you more... exactly whom and how to approach.
 
Then everytime they will start demanding. But yes, sometime such bad tactics do wonders.
Itna time nhi hota bhai unke pas. Apne aas pas kara best phase check kar lo jisme bologe usme kar dega wo. Bt sab me problem hoti hai jab sare ac chalte hain.
