Credit Card for NRIs

Hello everyone,

Though, I have been following this community for long this is my first post. Having searched this topic, not found any discussion, opening this thread. I have my cousin who is in USA, is an NRI. He was here about 7 years ago; he was managing his 3-4 credit cards. He left for USA, and he closed all his Indian cards. Now, for some purchases to be made here often for his parents etc, he wants to have some Indian cards. Would like to know, if there is anyway NRIs can apply for credit card in India? because he does not have employment, business or ITR here in India. If possible, please let me know the process and offered credit cards for him.

I did some research and found that there only few banks like Kotak, Yes Bank and ICICI offering NRI credit cards provided they meet following conditions

Having NRI/NRO account with them

Plus keeping FD of minimum 1 lakh, against which credit card given

Visiting the Branch would be useful. I think HDFC will also give against FD. Axis, if you have Burgundy, may not require an FD.
