Credit card after expiry?

Does credit card number changes like debit card after the expiry, we get a new debit card with new number?
Do we get new credit card with old nunber or same number?

A new credit card number is generated each time a credit card is renewed just like a debit card number.

However, the credit card account number reflecting in the CIBIL should ideally remain the same - no matter how many credit cards have been reissued.

A new credit card number is generated each time a credit card is renewed just like a debit card number.

My ICICI credit card number remained same when I got renewed credit cards in December 2022.
Our Credit and debit card remains but I have seen one case where new debit card number has come to me. I think it was SBI don't remember now.
I think it depends on bank and if its issuing same type/platform card at the time of renewal.

Yes, even my HDFC CC number also remained the same on renewal, only CVV and expiry changed

Every relation with a bank assigns you with an account number, savings account is a simple example. your account number is only number in this case. In a credit card however, the bank creates a credit card account at the backend. this credit card account number is different than that of you credit card number. when you upgrade/reissue you card, the card is changed but it is mapped to the same credit card account number. This has been my experience with icici, hdfc and amex.

Last year my 3 debit card renewed , they all had different number.. was not sured about cc so asked, but looks like it depends upon the bank regarding cc that they want to change number or not.
