After nearly one month of fighting with customer care and PNO I was informed that it is impossible to upgrade from BPCL Normal to Octane because upgrade option has not been "configured" for BPCL.

The only way is to apply for Octane separately. I guess this will involve closing BPCL card as I already have three cards. It will also mean I will lose all points on BPCL. And what if Octane card is not approved?

Also, SBI values my association with them immensely and are extremely sorry at the inconvenience caused to me.
exact same thing happened with me. did you apply for octane or not yet?

No not yet. I haven't got time to go to the BPCL station to redeem points. Have 1300 points now. Better I will close SBI Prime and apply for Octane. But wonder if they will allow both BPCL and Octane at the same time...
yeah, i have bpcl and requested for upgrade. they denied even though i escalated it till PNO. Thinking about closing bpcl and applying for octane for 3 months. Please post here if you take any action, i will do the same as well

@AlgoTrader I am also facing the same issue. But wouldn't it be possible to apply Octane as second SBI credit card and see if it is approved. Wouldn't that be possible?
@tn_72 Yeah, that seems to be the way. But unfortunately I got few unnecessary cibil hits - i think 5 when I followed up on this card. One each at cust care, nodal office, pno, cust serv head and once when i asked to upgrade the card from twitter team. So will try after a few months. Are you going to try this route? if yes, please share your results here

@AlgoTrader I will apply in a couple of weeks and would post here. I am just waiting for my friend who works as BM in SBI whether to apply via C2C route through agent or via Sprint. First time i applied through Sprint for the normal BPCL card and it was approved instantaneously (without prior relationship with sbi) but with very low limit. So was wondering if i can get a higher limit if i opt to go via agent through C2C with a higher limit card and waiting on my friends reply.

@tn_72 Sure. Please keep us posted here.
I also applied for bpcl card through sprint and got it instantly and I didn't had any prior relationship with sbi cards at that points. This happened almost an year back. But I got around 3L limit. Seems we are kind of similar. So if it works for you, it will work for me too.
Awaiting your results in few weeks
