Canara bank refusing to open savings account

I have a Canara bank branch 3 kms from my home. Today I visited the bank branch to get an account opened. After looking at the address in my aadhar card, the bank staff member asked me if I don't have a bank close to my home (3 km form there). I said I do have banks there but not Canara bank. The bank member said that they are only opening bank account from nearby addresses since there are a lots of frauds going on and suggested I get an account from any bank near my home address. This is the 1st time a bank has really refused to open an account. Any idea if it's a standard practice of Canara bank?

This is BS from bank. No such rules exists. Fill up account opening form and give to bank. If they reject, ask them in writing. If they refuse that also just escalate on twitter and formal email to their management with manager and employee name. They will visit your home and open account with full respect...

Bruh in my aadhar address is 65km away from branch and i am holding account in canara 🤣.
Open online there will be no issues.
If under 28 search canara aspire in forum open that account if you want.

Bhai Canara mei easily online account open ho jata h ...mat pado chkkr mei ...cheque book and card aane mei vese hi equally time lgna h...App activate k lie bhi jana nhi padta Branch.

Btw yes they refuse because they might have to visit to know your current location too ..as per KYC norms. CBI manager told me this so it can be the same case with Canara as well.

Why are you even going to the bank? Just do it online. Damn easy these days. I created my canara account completely online, even though there is a branch within 5min walking distance.

Going to a bank and dealing with these well paid braindead morons is only gonna achieve one thing, ruin a day of your life.
