In the world of personal finance, many people are always looking for ways to manage their money better and get the most out of their spending. One popular strategy that's gaining traction is using debit cards to pay off credit card bills. This allows you to earn cashback on expenses that wouldn't normally earn rewards. In this article, we'll explore this concept and look at some of the best debit card options for paying off credit card bills.

Understanding the Strategy

Typically, credit card bills are paid using money from a bank account, either automatically or by manual transfer. While these payments don't usually earn rewards, some banks offer cashback incentives for using their debit cards to pay bills. By strategically using a debit card for credit card payments, you can earn cashback on expenses that wouldn't otherwise earn rewards.

Choosing the Right Debit Card

When choosing a debit card for paying credit card bills, there are a few things to consider:
  1. Cashback Percentage: Look for a debit card that offers a good cashback percentage on bill payments.
  2. Debit Card Fees: Consider any fees associated with the debit card, such as monthly fees or transaction fees.
  3. Account Requirements: Make sure you meet any requirements to qualify for the debit card you're interested in.

Reward rate for IDFC Wealth Debit card is wrong. For spends above 50k, Wealth DC gives 10X points for every 100 rupees. Every 10 points is valued at Rs. 2.5 making the reward rate to become 2.5% effectively after the first 50k.

I have the same question. Been using freecharge for the same till now. Earlier paytm didn't use to give cashback as it wasn't marked as utility. Right now I am not sure. Dont know about MCC but merchant name changes between Paytm and Paytm Noida.

Arey bro, first complete full kyc on your Amazon wallet.

Now you will get Amazon wallet UPI (first time UPI activate limit is 5k for next 24-48hrs)

Visit any bank billdesk CC bill pay website or freecharge CC bill pay website -

Now payment mode choose UPI >> UPI QR

scan & pay through Amazon app and choose Amazon wallet to pay.

over the top, cred, mobikwik, payzapp etc plays the major role by complaining 🤣 to banks to people not taking 1-2 rs cashback scratch card but they found a way to earn more
After sbiunipay, already stop taking 11rs cashback by payzapp 🤣

Much deserved thread. some suggestions:
- need to add other dc like axis
- indus dc rewards are different depending on card type
- Paytm doesn’t always have same mcc, so if possible to specify which merchant name to look out for
- some other apps can be used like sriram one, airtel, dhanipay
