Atlas no more from August 31st?

You're correct, I think they're not serviceable as well expect tier-1 cities. So not everyone can opt for their cards. But from a competition point of view, it is good news for consumers.

This is where Axis has excelled all these years. They give mid-range to super premium cards very easily (much more lenient eligibility criteria) and that's where the problem starts. Other banks would probably do that initially but with time they'd become quite strict with lending those cards, but Axis prefers distributing cards to more people until they decide to put the axe on everyone. Which is why it is really important that other banks like ICICI and HDFC come up with more such mid range cards, as they've more coverage than HSBC or Amex.

Axis will continue to keep doing this as it appears to be their way of running this business itself. My gut feeling is that Atlas is going to get discontinued soon, if this news turns out correct. Most likely all customers will move to Horizon and Olympus will become open for applications replacing Axis, turning out as a more premium offering.
Olympus is great but in terms of rewards it is inferior to Atlas. For the same regular spends of 15L you get 10k more miles with Atlas because of milestones (not considering annual fees reimbursements). Also Atlas gives 10% Miles on airline and hotel spends while Olympus gives 4% on everything. Olympus has higher capping so that kinds of evens it out I think.

If Atlas were to be discontinued they should add either of the milestones or higher miles on airline/hotel spends to Olympus and we would have a killer card.

I dont think this is happening. I think aise hi fake news faila rahe.

Yes, they enabled lounge access via card swipe today. Atlas is not going anywhere. 🙂
Yeah, I had called their cc yesterday due to some issue I had so I thought pooch he lete hai to which she said there is no way this is happening otherwise emails would come first. Maybe someone intentionally started fake rumours which only they will know why. Maybe to complete someone's quota

Irrespective of whether this is true or false, I think only Axis ends up a winner out of this.

If they decide to close/devalue it, they got some new customers who applied out of FOMO. They can decide whether to put the lid, or whether to transfer these customers to some other card like Horizon.

If they don't close it, nice hack. A number of new customers who don't really take the most of the card's benefits.

Not a surprise when it comes to a notorious bank like Axis.

faltu ke fomo mein padkar.. main inifinia na luu... agar itni hi need thi..atlas ki toh abhi tak soo rahe thee kya!!! jo ek dum se abb mara mari macha rahe hai sabbb...
It's all hyped by ccgeeks on Twitter. Posting daily for 2-3 days, hyping up and creating a fomo unnecessarily. The bigger concern that needs to be addressed before getting trapped in credit is the fomo trap. Marketing as an Accor card with Accor returns, people are just trapped.

I did applied for Atlas 14 days ago. But yesterday got message that card is declined due to internal policy. I am in serach of next alternative.

Primary goal is travel card with milestones for regular spends(non acccelareted) for 5 to 7 lacs per year. Already have INFINIA, Amex plat travel.
Shortliested HDFC Marriott, Indusind Avios, SBI Krisflyer apex, HSBC travel one.

Opinions are welcomed.

Yes with axis there is always that risk there..
But if you really really require Atlas, it is better to take the card now .. at least until the unwanted thing happens you can enjoy..
This is the only way we can play with axis.. no other way..
Enjoy while it lasts.. don’t know when the musical chair stops with so much unpredictability…
Have fun …
Just a personal observation: After seeing tons of videos/podcasts on YT & series of tweets on X about Atlas benefits from past 3 months and sudden rumours of closure now. Something isn’t adding 🆙
