The card is technically free for the first year with the 5k Edge miles. Even if they migrate the new Atlas customers to other card there is no monetary loss to customers as such. I would definitely grab that Atlas if I were uThe bigger issue with Axis is that they will most probably migrate existing Atlas customer to another card and kill the Atlas card completely.
I applied for my wife, just for testing purpose...It took me to final page and i dropped outI tried applying from their website yesterday. As soon as u click on Apply now under Atlas, it shows error and redirects me to apply other cards like neo/myzone. They have not updated their web page yet. I even offered them to upgrade my 1 year old Airtel axis to Atlas but no luck

But HSBC is very is strict when it comes to issuing cards for self employed folks so that segment would still be mostly ruled by Axshit!Axis modus operandi is to launch new card every now and then forgetting about its current customers, meet the sales targets and then devaluate the card.
I know a lot of people really value Axis M4B, but doesn't look like Axis has any value for its customers when they put spend based criteria for lounge access on a card with an annual fee of 30K. None of their cards seem to be designed to survive for long.
The newest entry by HSBC is good, with respect to travel focussed cards. We need more diversification. Best time for HSBC to get more customers, considering their portal launch is also recent news. I don't think HDFC and ICICI have any card in this category, so lets see if they'd come up with something too.
Being axis they may come with a worst 4th option 🪓It can happen in 2-3 ways -
1. Like Kotak Myntra card - one shot migration on a fixed date for all and give zen.
2. Like upon your card expiry, when you renew or replace card, you will get a different card. (means those who got recently can use it for 5 years)
3. slow phasing out - how citi did with migration to axis - give some time and migrate.
being axis, i think 1 is the most probable way.
You may be overthinking. You will get more time than that. What is suggestion for people sitting with huge edge miles? We will get atleast 1 month time to transfer those easily.
I am 1.25 lakhs away from 7.50 lakhs milestone. Expenses are planned for october. Now confused?
You're correct, I think they're not serviceable as well expect tier-1 cities. So not everyone can opt for their cards. But from a competition point of view, it is good news for consumers. But HSBC is very is strict when it comes to issuing cards for self employed folks so that segment would still be mostly ruled by Axshit!
For me Axis has given me a limit of 180k which isn’t bad but I feel floor limit for Olympus would be more than this so it Axis might migrate Atlas folks to Horizon which is still a loss for us!
This news is out for just one reason - to spread FOMO. Not a surprise considering this is Axis bank. What is suggestion for people sitting with huge edge miles? We will get atleast 1 month time to transfer those easily.

Are you planning to apply for HSBC?I have had the worst luck with CCs. Got Infinia and boom, Infinia to accor devalued. When I came to know about Magnus and thought of applying, it was devalued. Applied for Atlas on 21st, and this news now. May be I should stop applying for new cards.
