Another Gift Voucher Fraud Alert – Same Old Players, New Trick

I had faced this with HP Pay vouchers that I got from Rewards 360 (HDFC related) portal. I didn't redeem them for months and when I tried to I found out they had been redeemed already. I live in Mumbai and the redemption was in a petrol pump in Gurugram. At that time there was also a news item of Rewards 360 being hacked. I accepted my loss and moved on. Now I immediately redeem vouchers.

I don't believe all these voucher scams are hacks in the true sense. They seem to be the doings of some unscrupulous company employees i.e. an inside job. If you are managing a system that is issuing crores of vouchers every day to thousands of customers siphoning off a few thousands of vouchers every day may not raise too many alarm bells. A proverbial drop in the ocean.

Well said. Pilfering of money has always been there where ever many employees manage a huge amounts of money.
