2 separate AMEX Travel platinum (Husband and Wife) vs Axis Atlas

For a couple's spending of around 8 Lakhs per year and to optimise rewards for hotel or airlines (international or domestic), which of the following option is better?

1. 2 separate Amex platinum travel cards and hit 4L milestone on each and combine points during redemption (through Marriot or any other partner)
2. Axis Atlas hitting 8L milestone

Before reading below discussion check this first, based on that below assumptions..

If it were me, I'll pick atlas .. for better options (not only marriott, although at the moment priority is that but if I want to change I'll have other options), spends mostly towards non-excluded categories (major point though not conveyed in OP but I believe atleast 5L on travel related).

I'll pick amex, if my spends mostly towards insurance, fuel, utilities, govt, jewlry related spends and they're accepting this card in my area.

Anyway, one thing to know Optimize and satisfied are both different and sometimes you do not need to optimize but get the satisfaction.
