Imagine you're just starting out in the credit card world and suddenly have ₹1 crore sitting in your bank account — not for spending, but purely to meet eligibility criteria for any premium credit card or top-tier banking relationship in India.
  • What premium banking program would you go after first — HDFC Imperia, Axis Burgundy, Kotak Privy League, ICICI Wealth, or something else? Why?
  • What are your monthly spends like, and how would you use those to maximise points, perks, or travel benefits?
  • If you had the chance to apply for any card today (Infinia, Axis Reserve, Axis Magnus Burgundy etc.), which one would you choose?
  • And as someone new to this space, what common mistakes would you avoid?

Curious to hear your strategies, red flags, and card picks!

But wouldn't it be rather contrary to nature ?

Aren't most people usually pre-programmed to be more careful about their own money than about their dad's ?!
Totally fair question, and it hits at something very real. On paper, yes, most people are wired to protect their own money like it’s their last meal, while dad’s money feels like a bonus round.

But here’s the twist. When someone suddenly has access to big money they didn’t earn themselves, like inheritance or family wealth, two things can happen. Either they get ultra-careful because they fear losing it and disappointing everyone, or they get reckless because it feels like Monopoly cash. No emotional scar, no fear of grinding to earn it back.

Now if that 50L is from your own blood, sweat, and skipped coffees, you’ll probably be watching every rupee like a hawk. But if it’s been chilling in the family account for years, the mindset can be way looser. Not because people are careless by nature, but because they just don’t feel the burn behind the balance.

So yes, you're right. Human nature leans toward protecting what we sweat for. But the moment it's someone else's effort, even if it's dad's, the urgency tends to dial down.

No offence to anyone but Invest 1 Cr to make it 10 Cr rather running after crappy credit cards..Once it is 10 Cr, bank will come to your house to give the credit card of your choice to you.
