One unconventional way to get additional 1% return on credit card - is to use a good debit card to pay the bills and get upto 1% (sometimes even more) cashback. Somehting like SBI VDC on unipay. So if the return is 2%, with the cashback on bill payment, technically we can think of it as 3%.
