Have you applied for the Eterna credit card and how long did it take to receive your opulence debit card?

Opulence took around 2 weeks. Eterna application was tricky process. All my progress is there in an another thread, it was declined initially and after an email, ombudsman and cpgrams complaint, it was approved.

Yes Yes, even JF is charged after 2-3 months and same way for Annual Fee as well. So not to be worried imo.
I visited my BOB branch today and opened a BOB MasterStroke account. The account creation process only took 10-15 minutes

Note: If you choose to downgrade the account, debit card fees will apply according to their terms and conditions i.e. Rs 11,800 including GST.

If I downgrade after 3-4 months, will I be charged joining fees as well or only annual fees after completion of a year?

First, you need to have MAB to raise the upgrade request. Without adding funds, how a bank will raise an upgrade request system will not allow.

Refrain from making definitive statements unless you’re certain.

I upgraded my Super Savings to SB Platinum requiring 1 lakh balance while my account had precisely INR 30,000 in it. It’s the sole reason I asked what I asked. 🙂

All I had to do for this particular upgrade was give a written request and it was done in a matter of hours, the same day.

The Masterstroke variant is categorised as Premium Banking, that might change things. Again, that’s why I asked what I did.

I’m not wrong—nothing is truly definitive in the banking industry. You can sometimes get premium accounts or credit cards even with a zero balance, while in other cases, you may not qualify despite meeting all the criteria. It largely depends on your relationship with the bank and how they assess your overall profile.

For example, if you have Home Loan with BOB you can get this account complementary.

You just made our own point. Premium account need funds for upgrade or a very good relationship with the bank.

I understand what you are saying, and it seems you might have thought about the various contingencies that affect account opening IP, such as the home loan surrogacy that would net a Masterstroke account without having to dole out/ maintain a balance. I know about banks enough to know that nothing is certain, but is it true in and for the circumstances I seek an answer?

You said we need funds to upgrade, to which I had replied that I was able to upgrade Super Savings to Platinum without maintaining funds. Simply because I surmised that as Masterstroke is categorized under Premium Banking, they might necessarily ask for funds before upgrading, you seem to think you were somehow validated.

The question still remains; unless someone knows something straight from the Bank, nothing may be said with veracity. Broad-speaking wouldn't be of much help here, as I merely wanted to know something targeted with respect to upgrading to ONE type of account with ONE bank. Whether or not it can be done, and if that particular bank follows strict rules when dealing with that particular account type, can be assessed if we have varied experiences of people getting that particular account variant. Giving an example of surrogacy-based account variants is of no use here because my question was targeted: Can I or can I not upgrade to Masterstroke without maintaining the MAB at the time of request placement?

If you were trying to convey about contingencies, it did not reflect. What reflected was, "First, you need to have MAB to raise the upgrade request. Without adding funds, how a bank will raise an upgrade request system will not allow." And this was untrue at least in the upgrade process I did, from Super Savings to Platinum. Hence the follow up.

With regards to account opening, it could be that Masterstroke may be opened with a lower than MAB cheque. Is it? That was the question. We would know if anyone was able to get that account variant at a lower initial funding, with the promise of maintaining the required in the incoming months.

With regards to account upgrade, it could be that upgrading an existing account to Masterstroke requires funding the account with the minimum average balance required for Masterstroke. Is it? That was the question. We would know if anyone was able to upgrade to Masterstroke without maintaining AMB.

That was all I wanted to know, without having to visit the branch myself, in a bid to harness from the experiences of the varied, experienced and informed public here. 🙂 But it does seem the answers, sometimes, are gotten fastest from the horse's mouth. Might as well make a visit to the branch and hear from them how they will operate.
