Credit Card Bill Payment Experience Using Google Pay

Hi All,

Can you please share your complete experience of paying your credit card bill through Google Pay Bill Payment option (except for BoB Credit Card). For example, when you made the payment and when it was reflected on the credit card account.

I had paid my Standard Chartered credit card bill of Rs. 36,500 through Google Pay on 23rd September 2022 (Friday) and it is yet to be reflected in the credit card application or website although it shows successfully paid on the Google Pay app.

I am a bit worried now that I might have to make the same payment again and if ever Google Pay would refund me the amount.

It can sometimes take over 4 days. Raise dispute of transaction.

Just now I checked the Standard Chartered app again and it shows the payment to be credited with the payment date of 23rd September. Thank you! As soon I posted this thread the payment was updated. Something seems fishy 🧐

I have noticed that Cred also uses two forms of settlement to card - (a) NEFT/RTGS which has always been instant, (b) Visa Money Transfer for which I got a confirmation only after 4 days from the bank. i pay bills a week in advance so didn't face issues. maybe similar system followed by GPay.

I have paid IndusInd CC payment and that was instant.

in my case, i paid hdfc cc bill on 12 july and it was credited to card on 21st july.
but it was showing as credited on 12 july.

In my opinion just use your cards web portal or cred for faster payments.

I never use GPay for credit card bill payment. Some months ago I paid a credit card bill and it took 3 days to reflect in credit card. That was my last credit card payment using GPay app 🙃😡

GPay uses Bill Desk mode of payment and it shows the same in credit card transaction history in the app. It took 2 working days for me to get the same credited to my Stan Chart credit card.

always make payments 3 working days before the due date to avoid the hazzle of late payments..some apps use bill desk for payments and may take 3 business days to get creditted

looks like Cred is a much safer bet then. don't think GPay has any cashback incentives either, do they?

2 days excluding holidays and staturday and sunday ?

I never use GPay for credit card bill payment. Some months ago I paid a credit card bill and it took 3 days to reflect in credit card. That was my last credit card payment using GPay app 🙃😡

I have paid rbl cc bill from gpay and it was instant but on the other hand with hdfc cc it took 5 working days. So i won't recommed gpay if your due date is near.

I never ever wait for due date. I always pay my cc bill within 2-3days of statement generation.

You don't have to worry now as Hdfc falls in bbps category now and your payment will be credited instantly.
