I had the same issue with the conversion to RuPay.
I backed out. I'm happy with LTF card.
Their bank their rules, I guess.

They Askin money for ltf card for vairant change .
It would have been ok to listen u will be charged for annual fees but annual & joining fees as if u r takeing new card & not just vairant change
I suggest you to just write a mail to pno@axisbank.com and in the end mention that if that won't be done then you are going to proceed with RBI Ombudsman.

In its draft, RBI does not talk about anything related to "charges" or fee. It says that "Card issuers shall provide an option to their eligible customers to choose any one among the multiple card networks. This option may be exercised by customers either at the time of issue or at any subsequent time."
And here in OP's case, Axis did agree to change the network/variant, however Axis is talking about charges.
That is upto Axis. OP needs to discuss with Axis to get the charges waived off.

I think it was Sumata Da or someone else's video I had watched on YT; wherein the person said that network change cannot affect LTF status. But I could not find this written 'clearly' in RBI guidelines ( agar hai toh pls yaha pe ss/ doc link bhejna @ everyone on TF)
RBI ko aadat hai lagta hai, cheeze adhuri chod ke loopholes rakhne ki. Kyuki agar complain hi nhi aayi unke RBI 'BO' ke paas toh un logo ki salary kaise hi justify hogi?
If the card is acquired LTF then it must remain LTF otherwise it's a serious issue for the users.

Yehi ki it's a Network change, not a Variant change, so why are they changing the Fees. It should be on the same fees and all.

Axis is talking as if you asked to change from My Zone to Magnus.
All you are asking for is to change My Zone Visa to My Zone Rupay.
You are not changing the card, just the card network.
Ye dil se nahi khopdi se open hain As-is wale.
Write to pno@axisbank.com and tell them that you are not asking to change the card. It's the card network that you are asking to change, and hence it should not carry any charge as the card was provisioned LTF for you.
