If you have 2 cards then you can get 4 tickets at 3L spends itself (1.5L on each card)
So basically for flights Vistara cards are good but for hotels Amex is good right? Does Amex has any flight transfer partner? Or just hotels and branch vouchers?
Yup. amex has miles transfer but the ratio is 2 MR to 1 air mile (3:1 for vistara). So after Magnus devaluation, amex card combos (with plat travel, gold charge, and MRCC) will be a good idea. you can get Marriott points and a Taj voucher with plat travel. you can get a Taj voucher and a Vistara voucher with a gold charge + MRcc gold collection.

you can find the spend requirements and calculations here:

EDIT : ICICI Marriot cards coming till 2024 which will be a good addition to this combo. @Hisoka

Or we can say they're charging 70% extra than Vistara signature/SBI for the same premium economy ticket and reward structure
yeah. with 6k you get only 1 idfc while with 7k fees you get both axis + sbi. Now after the 4.5L milestone, no one will reach 9L for 1 extra ticket. With sbi + axis you get double amount of tickets with 9L spent (4.5 for both).

SBi denied my card swap request to Vistara so I got air India (CC told me that sbi doesn't give free tickets on renewal, only for joining on sbi vistra), now I can apply for sbi Vistara after 3-6 months only. and axis Vistara also i can apply after 3 months as recently got Magnus ( might regret getting Magnus :p)
Sbi doesn’t give free ticket on renewal fee? I think that’s wrong information.

axis also gives a one class upgrade voucher
and the issuance bonus is for axis bank as well
as for the reward rate axis is better in terms of flights booked on vistara website
Axis charges 3,000 for annual fee and renewal too. IDFC gives you a class upgrade voucher for the extra 2k and has a better reward rate too. Also better issuance bonus if you spend 90k on IDFC in the first 3 months.

All around, I think IDFC offers much better value.

That's great. But I don't use hotel vouchers that much
Either Amazon voucher or Airmile. For 4L spends, Amex Plat travel will give 48k MR points which is equivalent to 22k Amazon voucher (Using 2 gold collections). That is 5.5% value back

But for 4L I can get 3 flight tickets (4 if I have both cards) and my Bangalore to Delhi flight premium economy is almost 9k. So that's almost 8-9% value back

A high reward rate is up to 1L spent means you can get 12K extra cv per year (1k per month) if you spend 1L+ every month. while Axis and sbi have the first 75k milestones every year which gives 6K cv combined.
I'm not sure if i can spend 1L every month. if you spend 1L for at least 6 months then only you will match with sbi+vistara for CV points reward.
Also, note that idfc only has a spend base CV (6K cv for 90k spent in first 3 months) as a joining bonus, not applicable for renewal.
so sbi + axis makes more sense with the reward rate for up to 9L spent.
It's not spend 1L every month but for spends upto 1L per month

Would defo take this card for the joining benefits and close it next year if i feel like it

then you can opt for the Amex gold + mrcc combo and you can get Vistara voucher from the gold collection

I did a quick calculation and the IDFC card is a lot more rewarding with the welcome benefits alone compared to SBI.

Assuming 1 CV = ₹1 and 1 PE ticket = ₹7500

IDFC

Welcome benefits
2000 CV + floor(30000/200)*6 = 2900 CV = 9.67% returns for the first 3 months.

First yearly milestone
₹7500 + floor(150000/200)*6 = 12000 CV = 8% returns*

*Important to note: 6 CV only till 1L monthly spends, 4 CV thereafter. Also utility, fuel and wallet loads only fetch 1 CV.

SBI

Welcome benefit
3000 CV + floor(75000/200)*4 = 4500 CV = 6%

First milestone
₹7500 + floor(150000/200)*4 = 10500 CV = 7%

So other than the steadily better milestone reward rate, the deciding factor b/w the two will be if you have the spends to utilise welcome benefits to the max, and whether you prefer SBI support to IDFC's.

I don't have an experience with IDFC, can someone please share theirs? Also how are their regular bank offers?

Point taken on the class upgrade.
Axis' issuance bonus isn't as good as IDFC. 6k CV points for 90k spend vs 3k for 75k spend.
Also, how is Axis' reward rate better if they only give 4CV points per 200 vs. IDFC's 6CV points per 200?

idfcs 6 cv per 200 is only upto 1 lakh after that it comes down to 4 cv per 200
i mentioned that axiss reward rate on flight bookings done on vistara website is 12 cv per 200

The case with IDFC is spending 30k every month for 3 months. With SBI, one has flexibility to spend 75k as per wishes. Also, after 450,000, no sense in using any of the cards. Also, SBI gives more points on fuel, utility, wallet, rent and insurance spends. Lounge access with SBI is unconditional.
