How many app wallets do you have? (Where all are your money spread?)

Status
The first post in this thread is a WikiPost, and can be edited by anyone with the appropriate permissions.
These days, we use many different apps, and almost every app has its own wallet. Whenever we get cashback or reward points, they go into the wallet of that particular app. This means our money or rewards are scattered across many places, instead of being in one spot.
Apps do this on purpose. They want us to keep coming back and using their services. If we have money in their wallet, we’re more likely to shop again just to use it. Sometimes, even when we get a refund, it doesn’t go back to our bank or card—it ends up in the app’s wallet.
The problem is, the more apps we use, the more wallets we end up with. Each app might call it something different—coins, balance, wallet cash—but it’s the same idea. These wallets often hold small amounts that either expire or go unused, and we forget about them completely.
There’s no one place where we can gather all this money. It’s like in the old days when we had small change kept in different drawers or boxes. Among all, Amazon Pay Wallet is probably the best. We can use it for a lot of things. But most other app wallets are limited—they only work for that one app and nowhere else.
Each app uses its wallet differently, and there’s no common rule. That’s why users end up with small, scattered balances everywhere, many of which expire or stay unused.

Conversion Rates
In most app wallets, the conversion is simple—1 coin equals 1 rupee. This makes it easy to understand how much we have and how much we can spend.
But sometimes, a few apps use tricky systems. They set the value so that 4 coins are equal to just 1 rupee. This means we need more coins to buy something small.
It can feel confusing and even unfair when the value changes like this. It’s not always clear unless we read the fine print or check carefully.
Because of this, users may feel they’re getting less than they earned. A coin should feel like real money, not just a number with no proper value.

Usage Restrictions
Some app wallets let you use your balance right away, without any conditions. You can spend the coins or cashback as soon as you get them, which feels simple and fair.
But in some wallets, there are limits. You need to collect a minimum balance before you can use it. Until you reach that amount, the coins just sit there, not helping you at all.
There are also wallets that only let you use a part of your balance. For example, if you have ₹100 in the wallet, you might be allowed to use only ₹20 or ₹30 on a single purchase. The rest stays locked. These kinds of rules can be frustrating. It feels like you earned that money or reward, but you can’t fully use it the way you want.

This is the list of apps that I use and their wallet names. I am not listing down the expiry dates, because I don't know.

Login - Now a days all apps have mobile number/OTP login. There is no concept of password anywhere. So no need to remember password.

Expiry - These are the apps that I use regularly. So nothing goes expired and unused. Everything will be used atleast once a month or even more frequently. Rarest is once in 3 months, not longer than that. The points validity is in many cases lifetime, and some are like 1-2-3 years. Nothing expires in less than 1 year.

21 wallets ? :woozy-face:
These are very common for someone who uses different apps and purchases things online.
This is not full list, this is only those that comes to my mind quickly. Maybe another 4-5 also are there.

Amount in these wallets are not more than 1000, but it helps. Say for example I never remember that we keep accumilating points in reliance account when we purchase anything from reliance fresh, smart bazar etc. Yesterday when I used that jiomart 100 rs voucher thing, I saw there is some 34 rs balance in the wallet during checkout, so I just used it. Such small cashbacks here and there doesnt make a big impact, but small happiness during payment. not lifechanging.

In whichever shop we go, we give mobile number. An account will be created for us using that number, we can easily get the purchase history, and points also gets accumilated in that same number/account.

I jsut got a reminder that last year I visited lulu mall, and some 23 points are expiring this month, I let it go, cannot run to use that.
Similarly these Bata chappal simply send messages - your 150 rs gift card will expire tomorrow. oh my god, their message looks like i am going to loose some 2kg gold 🙂 these are some things that i ignore.

I just thought about it yesterday - paytm doesnt have a wallet anymore. they used to have it long back but now it is only UPI. some 2 years back they closed down it. when mobiquick, phonepe and amazon pay can have wallet, why is RBI not allowing paytm to have wallet of their own?

Phonepe and cred i have never installed, didnt feel the need for it.
payzapp i have installed but never used.

Through payzapp, cred, PhonePe you will get some extra happiness. Guaranteed. Make sure u don't give email permission to cred.

Yes, paytm was one of the best. As long as it was active.

One question. If paytm has no wallet approval why they are asking me to do kyc? I have closed my savings account long back after the ban.

I will need a manager or CA to keep track of so many wallets

The problem is - whichever the shop you go, if we give our mobile number, a loyalty wallet gets created automatically and some points gets added to it.
They want us to keep going back to the same shop again and again to purchase more. The lure of redeeming points keep us with these stores.

Yes, the FOMO factor is high.

In Bangalore, Mithaicana sweet shop too has a membership rewarding program. It just uses whatsapp bot, without needing an app. Wish every one moves to messenger bots to de clutter apps.
