Shocking! My Bank Shared My Personal Data Without Consent

Even in "Private/hni banking" RM has access much less the whole seniority above it.

Senior management don’t even log in to CBS, much less check your account - but what would I know, right?

If you’re banking with a retail bank, you’re just one of hundreds of thousands under some account code. On one occasion, I saw a pop-up for the account of a retired GM of a public sector bank in TCS BaNCS marked “VIP account,” and it was amusing. Some people are just too entitled.

I worked in phone banking for Citibank NA almost 20 years ago. On the rare occasions we had a private banking client on the line, policy was to immediately connect them to a private banker.

Same thing happened to my friend. An external employee with outsourced client of SBI checked the details of my friend without his consent whatsoever during his background verification for arranged marriage. That guy is about to become his brother in law ☠️. We both were so surprised and my friend was so shocked when heard the exact amount and other details from the girl. She was just flexing, unaware of the repercussions. They knew the actual amount and income from his internal profile. They could be tracking his statement time to time, who knows.

It's used for many nefarious reasons. Your friend is lucky that it's just his would be in-laws.

CBS is centralised banking system
BaNCS is the frontend and backend software used for financial transactions by banks. It was acquired by TCS and available for Indian banks. Similar to Infosys Finacle.
NA is North America. Every banks in USA use NA after their name since the financial regulations are changes as you change the country.
