I guess both. But perhaps should opt in first before spending so that the "system" thinks you're in and adds your spends towards the milestone.

T&C's seem to suggest that only Rent, ATM withdrawal and wallet loads are excluded, so the answer to your question is probably yes.

What i want to know is that Will offer end on 16 SEP irrespective of whether i opt in today or on 15th SEP ?
I was hoping to opt in by 15th SEP and after that if get 1 month to complete spends it would be easy to complete due to BBD & GIF Sale

The offer IMO is from 15 Aug to 16 Sep- so spends in that specific month.

The way I read it, opt in by 15th September- only spends between 15-16 Sep will count; you don't get an extra month later.

From what i understand only spend after opting in will be counted. Thats the amex way. Else why need the for opt in?
