Kotak 811 Infinity Metal Debit Card – Unboxing & First Impressions

Just got this message. Seems like it is still being issued and the customer care lied to me

Chill out guys, y'all are getting too stressed out about it. If you are able to see metal debit card on agent's mobile while applying, then ur good only. I'm pretty sure these agents get more incentive for opening metal debit card account than normal super account so why do u think they'll scam u lol (cuz my guy was ready to pitch me this product even before I told that I want the metal card account).
You also get an sms "We have processed your infinity metal card". So it's lite

To all others after opening account, no need to ask customer care whether you got metal card or not, even I had asked customer care and they said they don't see metal debit card on their system.
I had taken the branch RMs visiting card and contacted him, he told customer care people don't know shit. After 1 or 2 working days, ull be able to see the grey virtual card on the app (which resembles the metal card)

Dont get so stressed out and stress others as well lol
 
Can i close my existing kotak account and open 811 super?
If you have an existing 811 account you can upgrade it to the super by paying 399 fee. However, you will have to shell out 5900 (incl. GST) for the Metal Debit Card. The plasic card will be available though.

DO NOT close your existing 811 account. Once closed you cannot open another one.

If you have a regular Kotak account, sorry. You are out of luck. Kotak doesn't allow to open 811 accounts for existing customers.

I have normal account. Not 811. So no way to open even after closing existing? Sad then.

I used to have 811 account and was closed due to non KYC , this was like years ago. Can I open now or not possible?

I closed my 811 account and opened 811 super account after 5months
But ram, I inquired with kotak and they have emailed me the same. I had a salary account about 12 yrs back and closed. When I tried to open 811 super savings account, they have emailed the same. So how can bank have different policies?
 
i used to had kotak 811 , closed 2022 .. opened again in dec 2024 , closed again in june 2024 and now after 2 month it is also allowing me to open again online after some danda to branch.
The kotak team have emailed stating the 811 savings and super savings is only for new customers and since I already have a CRN i am not eligible.

For me also they replied same,once closed can't be reopened.
Till 5 months, it kept showing existing customer in offline and and online account opening.
But after 5th month, i randomly tried and it gone through.
Opened new 811 super account with old CRN

Instead offered to open regular kotak account with MAB. I further escalated this with the RBI Banking Ombudsman. Stating that I was not made aware of this blacklist. The bank offered as a gesture to delete my lead in their servers, allowing me to open a new 811 account with a fresh email ID.

And I have successfully opened an 811 account for the second time this August, with a completely different CRN too.

Can you pls share the draft that you have written to rbi ombudsman.? Btw, did you follow 30 days and 3 reminders process or directly to RBIO ? I am also facing same issue. My account is 13 yrs and redundant. I have the email of closure of old account. But still kotak says u have CRN and can't open 811 ss account. So I will also approach RBIO .

I escalated the issue with all three levels of grievance redressal of Kotak. Once I got reply from PNO that account cannot be opened, I further raised a complaint in RBI BO website. So I didn’t have to wait for 30 days, as PNO rejected my request.

As for the draft, I don’t think my version would work in your case, as it was mostly a long and detailed timeline of events as I had visited multiple branches in the city and KYC officers.

I suggest giving a shot online as few people in here did reply that they did manage to reopen 811 account after closing it.

If that doesn’t work try the offline branch route.

Then move onto all three levels of grievance redressal and then only to BO.
