Dining Discount is DEAD....Separate MENU card for EazyDiner, Swiggy Dineout etc

good restaurants usually do not offer discounts.

Nah that's not true a lot of really good restaurants do offer discounts cause they are still competing with the same set of restaurant goers

PS: when I'm saying good I'm not talking about the luxurious Indian accent, dhilli etc. 🙂 those definitely don't give discounts easily

I noticed some restaurants now use different pricing for online bookings, and the staff told me they have separate menu setups for it. Digital menu board companies are playing a big role in this—I saw at one place they could instantly switch menus based on where the booking came from. Seems like it's getting harder to predict what price you’ll actually pay unless you check at the table.

I had somewhere a similar experience while booking with Swiggy dineout .

I am not going to name any restaurant as somewhere practice is not wrong but feels bit unethical.

On 19 july I went to a restaurant for family lunch and post dinner restaurant provided me bill of approx 12500, after giving me 20% discount ( I did not asked for discount).
Later when restaurant comes to know that I am paying through Swiggy download they removed the discount from the bill and inflated it to 14985.

Still paying through Swiggy dineout cost me less because of card offer, still I feel that the very purpose of dineout is dead.

This is very commom near my work, we all get 10% off on bill at nearby resturent on showing our work id, but if i use eazydiner they'll not give me both, and eazydiner still comes out to be cheaper,

But i think that's fine, double dipping might decrease profit/cause them losses

Yes, but we do not have card offer, these dineout applications are useless

Sorry, but not all hotels are the same.
I went to a fine dining restaurant in Pondicherry recently. They accepted Swiggy Dineout, I had booked a table with 35% discount.
It was honoured, no questions asked, same menu as they give for everyone, same rate. I got additional 10% cashback by using HDFC Swiggy cashback card.

Some places in Pune is well known for different pricing by saying in house offers. They clearly have different pricing specially for drinks in separate page of digital menu under in house offer. When you are placing order, waiter will inform you, if you take in house offer, then you can not pay by online platform. Mostly the in house offer and dineout/ zomato discount results in same price. Still dineout/zomato is profitable if someone has other card discount.
