Phone and SMS permission are now mandatory as per NPCI guidelines to avoid UPI fraud. It is called phone binding. Even paytm does not work without SMS permission.

Permissions beyond these such as Contacts are not mandated by UPI or NPCI guidelines for core UPI functionality.
Supermoney app requires mandatory Contacts access for user registration whereas in most other UPI apps it is optional.
As per supermoney app it is to make it easier for users to send money to friends and family.

Dont remember. Card was approved instantly and visible in axis app.

@sunit123 Lol, Babu Rao never gets old.
I have not installed the Cred app till date, as it needs permission to link email account for retrieving financial information related to credit card statements.
Don't have a clue about indie app. I suppose the only solution is to revoke permissions after installing some of these apps.
