Should a banking app work without sim card used for activation.

So, I have an experience with many banking apps and for almost every one of them it doesn't work if we remove the sim used for activation of app.
So here is what happened with me, my IDFC app stopped working on my old android phone so I temporarily moved my Sim to my new galaxy s24 installed and activated app. After few hours I removed my Sim from the phone and put it back to my old phone but the idfc app still works on my s24 which is without sim now.
I don't think other banking apps behave like this?

It's not only damm bad, it's too RISKY.
If you can recall I asked you about the same ...how do you ensure safety keeping money (BIGGEST) in saving...
Few things can be done, never activate upi where you have lots of fund. Put limits on debit card and daily transfers. Don't answer any unidentified calls, if possible try to keep banking app deactivated when not required.

Same experience, IDFC is the only one that works without sim, UPI as well through their app, I love it as I can keep it on secondary phone
Could you find a process to deactivate it completely on say one phone. Also did you try this? Just uninstall on your secondary phone and install it again. Did it let you login directly? Or ask for sim binding again?

how would you deactivate the app on some phone, did you try if you uninstall and reinstall app on same phone again same mpin might work

If I uninstall the app and install again then for registration the sim is required in the device but once the registration is done then if we remove the sim then also the app works

But isn't is bad for safety and security?
Nothing can be done without m-pin or otp.

If phone is stolen you would need to guess lockscreen password and app password, and I would anyway block everything directly on bank side.

I much prefer no sim binding as it gives me flexibility regarding having family member's accounts on my phones or vice versa.

Also unlike some others mentioned - here kotak811 and iMobile both don't work on something change.
