Imagine you're just starting out in the credit card world and suddenly have ₹1 crore sitting in your bank account — not for spending, but purely to meet eligibility criteria for any premium credit card or top-tier banking relationship in India.
  • What premium banking program would you go after first — HDFC Imperia, Axis Burgundy, Kotak Privy League, ICICI Wealth, or something else? Why?
  • What are your monthly spends like, and how would you use those to maximise points, perks, or travel benefits?
  • If you had the chance to apply for any card today (Infinia, Axis Reserve, Axis Magnus Burgundy etc.), which one would you choose?
  • And as someone new to this space, what common mistakes would you avoid?

Curious to hear your strategies, red flags, and card picks!

But wouldn't it be rather contrary to nature ?

Aren't most people usually pre-programmed to be more careful about their own money than about their dad's ?!
Totally fair question, and it hits at something very real. On paper, yes, most people are wired to protect their own money like it’s their last meal, while dad’s money feels like a bonus round.

But here’s the twist. When someone suddenly has access to big money they didn’t earn themselves, like inheritance or family wealth, two things can happen. Either they get ultra-careful because they fear losing it and disappointing everyone, or they get reckless because it feels like Monopoly cash. No emotional scar, no fear of grinding to earn it back.

Now if that 50L is from your own blood, sweat, and skipped coffees, you’ll probably be watching every rupee like a hawk. But if it’s been chilling in the family account for years, the mindset can be way looser. Not because people are careless by nature, but because they just don’t feel the burn behind the balance.

So yes, you're right. Human nature leans toward protecting what we sweat for. But the moment it's someone else's effort, even if it's dad's, the urgency tends to dial down.

No offence to anyone but Invest 1 Cr to make it 10 Cr rather running after crappy credit cards..Once it is 10 Cr, bank will come to your house to give the credit card of your choice to you.

It might take one 20 years to make 1cr->10cr. Not sure we will have that interest in cc at that point in life.

Hypothetical question requires hypothetical answer.

AXiS
1) Go to axis, get yourself a burgundy acc and then M4B card with limit over 40-50 lac by FD of 1cr.
2) spend everything on it for a year, collect points then convert into accor.
3) Mistake to avoid axis hai.. So get ready for devaluation.

Then close the acc in axis and open acc with HDFC

1) Go to HDFC get infini account and 1cr FD for a year get inifinia card with 40-50L limit
2) Spend how much ever you can, book ur tickets via smartbuy by points and hotels done via accor with axis.
3) Mistakes to avoid don't buy ULIPs.

Then close axis and go to ICICI

Repeat the above n get EPM and use vouchers for all spends.

If someone so happy with money lying then do get SBI Aurum card so that life me kuch tho tension bana rahe.. Lol.

Hypothetical ans hai.. Don't ask how one can get a card like that with such huge limit and all.

1cr yese hi pada hai tho RM tera gulam.. So you can do it.. If you have done it then let us know.

Note : someone having 1Cr lying will not look into all those stuffs as bank tself will come at your door step to give you his best version of credit card and not be wasting time in calculating points.

If you’ve got 50 lakh sitting in your HDFC savings account, you’re not just banking, you’re entering the VIP zone. Here’s what that kind of balance can unlock

You’ll likely be auto-upgraded to HDFC Imperia. That gets you a dedicated relationship manager, priority service, higher ATM limits, and access to better loan deals. Basically, no more standing in line like the rest of us

You become eligible for premium credit cards like Infinia. That card gives you crazy rewards, unlimited airport lounge access, and a concierge service that can book everything except your future

They may also throw in exclusive investment offers, early locker access, and sweet home loan rates. The bank starts treating you like royalty and suddenly remembers your name before your account number

So with 50 lakh in the account, you don’t just earn interest. You earn upgrades, respect, and perks you never knew you needed. Just use it smartly or all the benefits will stay in their brochure and not in your life
bro thinks he's chatgpt when he joined yesterday lmao
