₹1 Cr in the Bank, New to Credit Cards — Which Premium Banking & Cards Would You Go For?

Infinia

TF Select
VIP Lounge
RML Group
Imagine you're just starting out in the credit card world and suddenly have ₹1 crore sitting in your bank account — not for spending, but purely to meet eligibility criteria for any premium credit card or top-tier banking relationship in India.
  • What premium banking program would you go after first — HDFC Imperia, Axis Burgundy, Kotak Privy League, ICICI Wealth, or something else? Why?
  • What are your monthly spends like, and how would you use those to maximise points, perks, or travel benefits?
  • If you had the chance to apply for any card today (Infinia, Axis Reserve, Axis Magnus Burgundy etc.), which one would you choose?
  • And as someone new to this space, what common mistakes would you avoid?

Curious to hear your strategies, red flags, and card picks!

I can't imagine, it will never happen for me in my bank account 😉

-- for rest of the queries (irrespective of balance in savings account) already answered in this forum based on their requirement. Its not simple question and answer, sorry but you're asking to 'summarize entire forum' in your post.

Only people who have a lot of free time in life would use their brain and respond on such hypothetical scenarios.

Many wealthy 💰, People who have asset worth 1 CR plus are MANY outside.
If @Infinia have asked 1CR cash, that's also not a issue now a days.
@Infinia , I have someone, almost similar to what you said, just the Cards are basic.
Have asked(someone) to share SS...
Will update...here...

Yes, Please share SS. I would like to know about those 4 questions and how those are related to @Infinia without any requirements or spend pattern shared by OP.

Comman things which I know are.
1- Wealth they have.
2-Premium Banking they have.
3-Affluent lifestyle they have.
4-One member who don't have CC in personal name, got enrolled easily in premium banking program within a week.
(1-Imperia 2-Burgundy)

How it can help @Infinia or any one, or related with anyone, depends on lot more factors.
--+++---+++----+-++-++--+
2-Someone sold prop worth 1.8 CR with 40:60 ratio, (Bank:Cash) recently and managing it's own, but it has nothing to do with TF or CC.

Exactly, a forum meant to clarify your questions, not to confuse based on lot of hypothetical scenarios. Anyway, ur in this, and maybe I'm not the right person in this thread. I usually respond based on their personal preferences.. because AFAIK, if this thread starts it changes many directions many times without any end point because it doesn't have any starting point but a simple assumption.

-- Again its my views and may not reflect all.

You are more than right 👍, Even have seen so many wonderful post/threads of yours, and learnt/understand many new findings from it.

The point ☝️ I raised is , apart from HiGH Salaried Class, a lot of business people/ family or other people have wealth but not everyone's that much aware/agressive in CC.

Someone known to me, easily (within a week), got enrolled in so called PREMIUM (Imperia Burgundy) and don't have any credit card previously.
(That's the similarity.)

I am trying to optimize my dad's spends to get points. I am the one who manages all of his spends while trying to max out rewards.

This is the same case as mine. I recently (last year) got into the CC world and I have been trying to get as deep as possible into this ever since. I am 19 and I already have Infinia, BizBlack, Amex Plat Travel and Kotak White (LTF). I got enrolled into Imperia Banking with HDFC and Privy League Black with Kotak just for the benefits. I have the capital to get any card/account type but only if it benefits me.

I think my post is dumb and makes no sense to me too now😭

Everybody has their own needs and therefore when you ask monthly spends etc how would it matter to you ?
How to use rewards/perks is also so city dependent and on how/where you would travel..
For me all the premium cards make sense since I'm surrounded by 20-30 5 Star Hotels and everything is relatively expensive.
If you have enough cash you should go for all the premium banking services since they all require very little money for eligibility and spend on cards for specific spends where you get maximum benefit.

@Infinia , Few cards you already have,
For few others, you have to search, like
@king of the kings , thread/words might help you.

Spend/usage based suggesion may be different from only getting Premium Cards keeping Good sum of money with bank.

As it's not your money, but your DAD's.
What I can say is be little more careful.

My Calls. Hypothetical questions.... but pragmatic and practical answers.... from my perspective...here we go....

1. Bank Account. Imperia with HDFC. Ahem, in spite of all the flaws, HDFC remains a good bank. I have had no major issues in the last 6 years.
2. Monthly Spends. Grocery, fuel, dining, movies et al take the king's crown. Travel and hotels come next. Other spends in the last slot. And life goes on.
3. Credit Card. Infinia Metal. Already have it. 3.3% base spends is excellent. And 33.33% is just amazing - albeit once in a while!
4. Common Mistakes to Avoid. Well, you can read some of the nuggets of wisdom here.

Hope this helps... in adding some more zest to life.... via such hypothetical questions... once in a while. 🙂
