Why would it work? Maximum limit is 500.

Yes. It's actually first time for 5K you get 5% upto 250 coins, after that 2%. If you pay 5K for another Card then you will get 250 second time also.

No, once you reach 500 coins. You won't get anything extra.

It's actually for those, who is paying same credit card. They have to do this: 5K + 5K + 5K + 2.5K to max it out.
