As many of you know, I travelled to Taiwan, Yilan was my second stop. Westin Yilan Resort, Yilan. Located on the outskirts of Yilan county in Yuanshan Township which is around 1 hour drive from Taipei City. This resort offers stunning plush green views around the property. This is away from Yilan county and offers very peaceful environment.
Experience:
- This property was chosen to explore the hot springs within the resort and I had MR points that can be utilized. Costed me around 165000 for 3 nights. Booked it around 3-4 months prior and have cancellation option. Before 4 days on checking found out the property has reduced prices for around 135000 for 3N. So cancelled the stay and re booked it.
- As a Marriott Gold member with Amex Plat Charge status, I have requested them for free breakfast and room upgrade on chat option. They said breakfast for kid will be covered but they will charge breakfast for us, I have said that's fine. During Check in I have requested them for upgrade and complimentary breakfast again and they upgraded 2 tiers above room and complimentary breakfast only for the kid.
- Overall Checkin process was smooth and the property was very calm and peaceful with stunning plush green views. One of the best Westin Property I have visited. As the climate had slight drizzle and the visual experience of the property has enhanced well.

We had our pre booked vehicle ready through out the Taiwan, so distance was not a problem for us. The driver and guide who is 60 years old is very supportive and trust me guys his energy levels are equal to 30 years old in India. The property is not very big but offers all the amenities matching the Marriott Standards. This is mix of Taiwan + Japanese style through out. Westin, Yilan has Hot springs within which is part of Taiwan and Japanese style.

On Some funny note: We visited a restaurant within Westin on one day and I was talking to the staff there for veg options, I was greeted in Hindi by a person behind me and he offered me Vegetarian Pizza as we had language barrier as none of them understand English (Google Translate works well). After all the conversation and order we found he was a Pakistani Citizen and the same day we had Operation Sindoor happening. We was like, How are we gonna face each other now. Even he was worried of the Pakistani politics and worried about his family due to the scenario happening that time.
But to my surprise, on 3rd day I have received a call from the Duty Manager and they said I have an surprise upgrade and asked our willingness to shift the luggage and I said Yes. I was not told the upgrade category, they upgraded us to Presidential Suite for the 3rd Day which was Monday. He apologized that he tried to upgrade us for 3 days but 2 days was Weekend and the Presidential Suite was booked. I was stunned and surprised with the efforts he was trying to make us comfortable and make our trip memorable. As I came late and left early next day couldn't experience the Presidential Suite much, but was touched with their hospitality. To my further surprise they waived off our breakfast bill completely during check out as complimentary and token of gratitude as we visited from India.
With good memories and hospitality we moved on to Sun Moon Lake.
