I think this is very restricted to one or two petrol pumps not a general all-india thing.
In every town, there will be one pump that doesnt accept UPI or card. But that is due to problems with their POS machines, or systems, it is not a permanent ban, just for some time. After 1-2 days, it will be restored.
If at all a pump doesn't accept card or UPI we can infact complain to the company and their license itself will get cancelled.
Either this is a fake news or troll or some personal case. Such things can never happen.

I heard there are cases where after paying via UPI, some people would flag the transaction as fraud and try to get that money back. In this case, the bank will freeze the petrol pump's account.
Does this really happen this way? Banks, even when taking action, will freeze the merchant account and then look into what really happened?

In few petrol pumps of certain cities, only cash will be accepted. Others will accept everything.

Nothing surprising here. The POS machines in petrol pumps are misused in various ways. A few of my nearby fuel pumps were involved in fake note circulation. Their accounts get frozen frequently due to suspicious transactions.

If online payments ban happens widely, then it's a big downside for Fuel cards and for Amex cards which people use for milestone.

Indian oil accepting park plus vouchers?

I went to one indian oil petrol pump in delhi and they refused to accept payment via upi. But they said parkplus and cards are working fine.
