Regarding Samsung refrigerator

In April 2024, I purchased a Samsung refrigerator of 301 liters from Amazon. For the first 6 months it was working fine; after that, there was a problem regarding cooling (the refrigerator was not maintaining the desired set temperature). I raised the complaint, and then the technician came and changed the temperature sensor. Then it was working fine for 6 or 7 days, and then again there was a cooling problem. Again, I raised the complaint with Samsung, and then the technician came and replaced the gas of the refrigerator. Again, it was working fine for 6 or 7 days. After that, the same problem was there again. For the third time, I told the technician that the same problem is still there. The technician said for your peace of mind, you (the customer) can increase the warranty of the refrigerator for 4 years at the cost of 4700. Then I increased the warranty of the product from 15.04.2025 to 15.04.2029.

Now, is there any way to replace the refrigerator from Samsung without any extra cost? I am pissed off with the problem, as the cooling problem is still there, and the refrigerator is still in normal warranty of 1 year, which is provided by the company. {Although I still have 4 years of extended warranty (which will be starting from 15.04.2025) in my hand.}

Warranty is just an eye wash...my parents facing same problem with 1 year old samsung...recently they bought LG for peace of mind under exchange offer

Not that model, but i bought 198L 5* scamsung refrigerator, it's still working fine 0 issues till now.
But if you are going for these high models i suggest get any other brands as suggested by sunit above lg will be good.
I am considering buying the below Samsung refrigerator during the upcoming sale, but after reading about your experience with Samsung, I am feeling skeptical. Does anyone have any experience with this model?

There is no issue with Samsung but the fan stops working when there is ice formation impeding the working of fan and fan stops working leading to increasing temperature in refrigerator section. There is no problem with gas leak since they are hermetically sealed. This happens if your living in coastal, tropical or subtropical areas.

If you buy the Samsung refrigerator, make sure to keep the temp at 7 degrees to 5 degrees when humidity is high and between 5 to 1 degrees when at low humidity or when westerly blows.

Search youtube and see how many people are frustrated by its performance, not in Asia but continental US also.
Good luck.

Thanks for your input, @Hope and @unit vector!
I'm not sure which other brands are reliable in this price range besides Samsung. I don't want to go with LG, as we've had countless bad experiences with their appliances - multiple ACs, a refrigerator, and a washing machine, all of which have let us down.

I'm also considering the model below from Haier. Have you had any experience with Haier refrigerators in the past?

@RadTheCrab I would suggest visiting reliance digital for offers available with different brands, if store exists.
I think Samsung has minimum temperature reach of -23°C but Haier has -18°C. I am not sure. Check it.
Since you are buying a huge refrigerator, make sure to provide ample ventillation.

Candy is one brand which I thought to buy as it is cheap compared to other brands. But reviews are very few in amazon.
Its an european low cost brand but there are so many negative reviews in google.
Based on my knowledge better to avoid
Candy
Samsung

What about Haier - Is any one using?

P.S: We are using Godrej from past 15 years still no problem. But the fridge size is small (200 Ltrs appx). So wanted to go for a bigger one.

Yes, since your Samsung refrigerator is still under the original 1-year manufacturer warranty (valid until April 2025), and repeated repairs have failed to resolve the same cooling issue, you are well within your rights to request a product replacement at no additional cost. You should escalate the matter directly to Samsung customer service, referencing the repeated repair attempts (sensor replacement, gas refill) and persistent failure of the unit to maintain proper cooling. Make it clear that the issue was never fully resolved and continues to recur within the warranty period. Demand a resolution under the original warranty, not the extended one—which hasn't even started yet. If customer service is unresponsive or dismissive, consider filing a formal complaint through the national consumer helpline or the consumer court to pressure Samsung into honoring a replacement.

I have found the problem to be warm moist air getting in through the condensate drain tube (which is key into the evaporator tray).

The moisture in this air condenses on the cold evaporator coil placed in the freezer section. This results in ice formation which cuts of the compressor to prevent over cooling. The refrigerator remains constantly in defrost mode.

All this can be prevented by having a j trap at the end of condensate drain tube filled with water to prevent air from getting in.

Alternatively, i always fill the condensate drip tray with water so that the drain tube orifice always remains submerged in water. This prevents air getting in the tube.

I figured this all out during the lockdown of 2020 when my samsung refrigerator was misbehaving and it was impossible to get anyone to service it in April 2020.

Try this out and let me know, I have never faced any problem with my refrigerator after learning this fact in 2020.

The drip tray is designed to store water for a short time and since the evaporator coils consume half of the space in it; the coils lose a quantity of the heat to the water stored there and the water evaporates. I seldom saw water inside that tray.

That's the problem. Warm moist air rises through the open drain pipe there causing ice formation on evaporator coil.

If you increase the distance between the wall and the fridge, you will not get frost formation on evaporative coils. Try it.

During prolonged high humidity during monsoons, nothing will help.
