Wifi Extender/Repeater (Wireless) Under 1.5k

Long back I purchased TP link it stopped working in just 2 months. But the same product bought by my friend worked for years. So, mostly these are hit or miss.

Also the repeaters half the network speeds.

Looks nice to use as an extender, only thing is it only supports only 2.4 G. Would be nice to have dual band wifi
Yeah dual band is always first choice but in this case need to connect via without wires so 5ghz won't be any more beneficial.

Also the repeaters half the network speeds.
I know but the problem is that the main router is across the street, installing cable would be a hassle. And speed is not a concern just need internet connectivity, even 10mbps speed would be enough to stream CCTV cameras.

What are the main router specifications which could play an important role on the success of your repeaters performance..
How strong / weak of your main router's signal in the destination?
What is the distance between main router and proposed extender and how many walls or obstacles in between?
Are you able to get any sort of signal using per say your mobile in the destination?

Looking for a wifi extender/repeater (wireless) under 1.5k. So far found this Tenda F3: https://amzn.to/49jZmFN

If anyone used this or any other then please suggest.
Here's my take:

If you want it for home use, I would recommend upgrading your router to four or more antennas, thus reducing blind spots in your network. I recommend to get a Wifi 6/6E router atleast.

Also, it is vital your router is placed centrally in your home for effective use. Or you can use Mesh network and boost your coverage that way.

Wireless extenders are useless according to me, because of reduced speeds and delayed latency. It's better to use wired ones wherever possible, having dual band mode atleast.

In this case, LAN cable would be ideal and cheap as well, and connecting it directly with the PoE switch of the cameras. It's usually priced at ₹20-30/meter.

This looks more than fine for the price, I didn't find this option when I bought one couple of months ago otherwise would've gone for it. I bought this one:
TP-Link AC750 Wifi Range Extender
Works fine and range is also decent, I use it a floor above and the slab/wall penetration is good. No heating issues so far.

If you have an old router, you can repurpose it as a repeater or extender without needing to purchase a new one.

If you're looking for a new device, the D-Link DIR-615 is a good option.

However, keep in mind that a repeater or extender only works effectively if it receives a strong signal. Ideally, both your current router and the new one should be placed relatively close to each other to ensure optimal performance.

I had good experience with tenda routers and extenders, specifically i like their multiple device connectivity with zero to minimal loss in speed, you can check out

Main router is Jio Fiber default.
Signal strength fluctuates between 20 to 40%
Distance 50-60 feet.
2 walls in between.
Yes main wifi is accessible with mobile.

Wiring is not an option that's why looking for wireless repeater even if speed is slow.

I use Netgear EX6110. It's dual band. I paid 1499 during Amazon Prime Day sale. Not sure how much does it cost now.

Option 1: prefer physical cable wiring. You can buy cable of 80+ feet and lay the cable. Even if it's across the street it can be done, you probably don't realise thats how fibernet cables now, and earlier TV cables were laid. Cheap and best option.

Option 2: laying cables is impossible. Re-use any old router.
Repeater is not a rocket that has to be built separately, any old cheap router with enough range will do.
Configure the old cheap router in repeater mode and you are done.

Option 3: you don't have any old router.
Buy any router with enough range you need.
Some routers add extra antenna which don't do sh#t. It looks like range is your priority, so search for routers with better range.
Don't fall for costly 'Repeaters', they don't do anything new that normal routers don't do.

5GHz band has a smaller range than 2.4GHz.
So if you need longer range and don't need to worry about speed, check for routers which have 2.4GHz. most routers have both 2.4 & 5 bands.
For such unique problems, better to approach a local professional, AFAIK they don't charge much, but looks like you don't need them in this case anyway

Using Mi wifi 4A gigabit edition for last 2 years now. Bought it for around 1.5k back then.
Works flawlessly, using it as wireless extender as getting LAN cable over the place where I needed it wasn't possible.
The primary router gives 2 signal strength on 2.4ghz where it is connected (at the stairs of my basement) and it is for my basement and gives spends of around 70+ Mbps and ping of 1-2ms.

For office work and studies, it is good.

Hope it helps.

Rule #1: Avoid buying a Wi-Fi extender/repeater for home use.

Instead, repurpose an old router or invest in an inexpensive new one.

For a better solution, I recommend upgrading to a Wi-Fi 6 router with mesh support. Replace your old router with this and use the old router as an extender/repeater.

In the future, if you need to extend coverage, simply add another mesh router for seamless expansion.

I have both the TP-link AC750 and Mercusys MW300RE. Had problems with Mercusys not connecting with Jiofiber. No issues so far with the TP-link one. But don't expect the same wifi speed of main router.
