Amex seems intent on getting people to close their cards. Already struggling to meet the monthly 1000*4 transactions with Amazon increasingly not giving value, and card being effectively online only. Lets see what the details are for MRCC. Unless the card can somehow be converted to LTF, might have to think of closing the MRCC sooner rather than later. Should be fine for a few more months, as the card renewal is only in Jan and I have so far managed meeting spend targets. This year so far, have reached close to the half-way mark. There aren't too many Amex upfront discount offers any more, and the mix of cards I have often makes even the Amex online spends a losing proposition.

tradebrains.in seems like a fake news site. The article is full of inconsistencies. For instance, for the gold card they have mentioned: "Monthly milestone rewards now require a higher spending of INR15,000 per month which was earlier at INR10,000."

But there is no such monthly milestone currently.

Going by the website, seems the Amex monthly bonus rewards for 4 transactions are effectively over. It says Rs 10000 spends for the 1000 points. Is it going to be 5*2000 or 4*2500? Even after facing multiple devaluations across multiple cards over the years, this is the first time I am seriously contemplating closing a card. There were 2 others I was bit concerned about. One was SBI Click, but they agreed to convert it to LTF, and now I use it only when there are upfront discounts, or once in 3 or 4 months for atransaction under 500. There is Flipkart Axis. I am among the very few who have to pay for the card. But the combination of the card and Grabdeals still give me decent value, and though they've had another devaluation lined up, I usually don't have the threshold-crossing spends that should put me off. And I have Millenia as a back-up. But MRCC is different. I prefer the gold redemptions, and those have taken multiple hits already. Seems more is in the pipeline, so can't see how the card can give value, unless they have really attractive flight booking options, and that I very much doubt. Don't think we'll be getting much better than the upfront discounts say a Federal Bank or PNB would offer. Those 2 have given me serious value in flight booking over the last couple of years...
Amex was one provider I had no issues onboarding as a disabled person. Absolute professionals. But seems we are at a crossroads now...

I have gone through the tradebrains post yesterday but all they mentioned are inconsistent and not matching existing information also. For now just read it out, but let’s wait to hear from Amex officially.

Obviously there will be changes with the past system. Wait continues.

The expected changes are seemingly set to be effective from 12 June. And there is no communication whatsoever from Amex. Don't think they'll not give the users no real notice worth talking about. Either the changes are likely to be announced to be on 12th with a subsequent date of effect, or these are speculations.
In any case, the predicted changes, if actualized, could mean the MRCC will be the first card that I actually close...

Amex news is that they gonna outsource to some other company entirely for credit card alone and that's why the long wait and rumoured that June the application process will start.. Here's the June and we are awaiting..
No such links I got to confirm though..
