Dear members,
I booked hostels via WB’s youth hostel booking service which is a public/govt. service.
However the interface for booking was confusing, i.e., specifically where the dates are put to book the hostels. As you would see in screenshot it asks for ‘booking from’ and ‘booking to’, since accomodation is booked for minimum 1 night I put 13-01 and 14-01 for 1 night, as is standard on any booking portal.
But later after paying, by calculating the money I was charged I figured they peculiarly calculated it as 2 days and I was charged 2 days fare.
For them booking from and booking to should have the same date for 1 night. Nowhere in the booking process or in the receipt they mention calculation in terms of nights.
It's not like they have 24 hrs booking system i.e., 00:01 hrs to 23:59 hours as that would have justified this weird calculation method. They have standard check-in and out times i.e., Check-In is 10:30AM and Check-Out time is 9:30AM.
So, because of this absurd booking calculation method I ended up paying for 2 days fare intending to book for 1 day. As mentioned there was no mention of nights hence I did not have a clue, it was after paying a high amount I decided to check their tariff chart which is located in a completely different page and found out by deduction that I have been charged for 2 days.
Now I don't think they will bother about fixing it or refunding me money for 1 extra days. I will complain and intimate them.
But if nothing works, I will approach the Consumer Court. But my question is, do you think I have a case here is it somehow my oversight and they are on the right?
