Not able to open 811 account if had Kotak normal savings account earlier (now closed)

Hello TF members,

Was anyone able to open 811 account when the you had already closed non-811 account earlier? I am trying to open 811 account and it shows existing customer error due to CRN existing. I checked by visiting branch, they are saying I can open any other account except 811, it's for new customers only it seems.

+1 same. There is a whole thread where many say they were able to. But honestly I have escalated to nodal also, no use. Unable to open a 811 ss account.

I closed my 811 account and spendz account around nov 24, till march ,it showed existing customer in online and offline account opening.
During april, i causally tried online account opening and opened 811 super on the same old crn

Myself had ING Vysya account 8 yrs back. Now they merged to kotak. While applying 811 account it says, already customer ID exists and asking to reopen the old account..

looks like you are the lucky one, I am getting existing customer CRN error everytime. May be I will give it a try again in April 2026

I had 811 account in 2017 something closed due to non physical kyc. In online some issues was coming and in offline in one city branch he was not Able to open. Later visited another branch 2m ago he opened successfully.

Yes, there's seperate person on all branch and only that person opens 811 account.

So there are exceptions. But why the hell kotak social media team reply stating that 811 is for new customers only and existing customers can go to hell ?

Not only me, there are multiple people here who got account after closing old account.
One guy closed 2 accounts (One after one),still could open 3rd one.
Luck or what i dont know, but we were able to

May be ur data stuck in their servers or branch guys not properly closed ur account or there might some payment or money pending which showing u to be existing customer

it's due to CRN (Customer Relation Number) which stays as is (they do not remove) even when the account is closed.

Crn is not a problem, many people including me got opened new 811 under same CRN.

So i guess in ur case, something conflict coming because of ur old account

Yes not possible. If already 2 kotak accs are available already, then super is not possible at all.
Even spendz is counted as kotak account, has to close spendz to get super
