I was told by the SBI Loan officer that its possible to convert your INR to eRupee and then convert it back to USD in a foreign bank account anywhere in the world WITHOUT paying international transaction fees.
Wow...that would be a game changer if there are no tx fees involved. But I also think thats wishful thinking. The entire remittances industry might collapse.
