Joint to Single account change in HDFC possible online?

My senior citizen parents have joint account in HDFC. I did FD online but now unable to change maturity instructions as its in renew mode. I want to change to Renew principal and pay interest. When contacted RM, he suggested even if you do additional FD, you will face same issue with new FD. Solution is convert account to sole owner.

Anyone got any experience of using FD in joint account? And is Account conversion from Joint to single possible online? Branch is somewhat away from my current residence.

It's basically a very old system.

You will need to visit branch for all existing FDs, but for future FDs ensure that holding pattern is "single" when you create it.

So you mean if I visit branch, existing FD maturity instructions can be changed there?

Yup branch can change even for existing though they would need signature of both the parties.
