IDFC FIRST IndiGo Dual Credit Card Launched – Is It Really Worth the Rs 4999 Fee?

IDFC First Bank recently launched a co-branded credit card in partnership with IndiGo Airlines — the IndiGo IDFC First Bank Dual Credit Card.

Why is it called a Dual Credit Card? Because you’ll receive two cards under a single credit card account — one on the RuPay network and another on Mastercard, similar to how ICICI Bank’s Gemstone Credit Cards offer Visa and Mastercard or Mastercard and Amex variants on a single account.

Let’s dive into the details of this card and evaluate whether it truly offers value or not.

TechnoFino Opinion:

To be completely honest, the IDFC FIRST IndiGo Credit Card feels quite underwhelming. With an annual fee of ₹4,999, we expected far more in terms of value and benefits. Unfortunately, the card doesn't quite deliver.

Let’s break it down - if we assume the average value of an IndiGo BluChip is ₹0.50, you're effectively getting a 3% return on IndiGo flight bookings. For a co-branded card specifically tied to IndiGo, that's surprisingly low. It should’ve been more rewarding, especially when it's targeting frequent flyers. For all other regular spends, the return rate drops further to just 1.5%.

What’s even more disappointing is that this card doesn’t offer any airport lounge access benefits — seriously, an airline co-branded credit card priced at ₹4,999 without such a basic perk? On top of that, the value back on essential spend categories like insurance, rent, utilities, wallets, and even RuPay UPI transactions is just 0.25%. That’s simply unacceptable for a so-called premium card with an annual fee of ₹4,999.

When you compare it with other options in the same price range - like the Axis Atlas, or even HDFC Regalia Gold (available at half fees) - those cards offer significantly better value, flexibility, and rewards. Even with the milestone benefits, this credit card doesn't offer a strong value return.

So, the big question is: why would someone choose this card when clearly better alternatives are available for the same or even lower annual fees? Unless you’re a die-hard IndiGo fan or there’s a very specific offer attached, this card is tough to recommend.

And no automatic tier offering as well. Atleast they should have given Blue 2 tier for those who hold this card. This way atleast we can accelerate bluechip earning on Indigo bookings.
