If a person applied for the card, will a software automatically decides to Approve/Reject after doing some pre programmed checks Or Employees will go after each applicant & decide?. They will be thousands of applications every day. It’ll be hard for employees to go after every application. If a software is being used it explains why applications are being rejected even after meeting All criteria, because software tends to make errors. So what is it how the system Works.

It is likely a combination of both software and human beings. Software to reject applications based on certain criteria. Multiple staff to filter applications further.

Software are always in the game. They reject potential customers who aren't eligible (let's say defaulters with mote than 5 late payment) & process other applications to credit officer who makes the decision 🤔.

Depending upon situation application method can differ. For example someone I know had 3-4 late payments on secured loan but his HDFC card application was approved. Probably HDFC, in their portfolio, wanted few defaulters too.
