Noticed on HDFC website that imps charges are Nil for prefered banking. Is it true?

Yes, it's NIL for Preferred and upwards!

Probably I missed it earlier, was still under the impression that it is chargeable

It is nil. In case it is charged. U have to call the customer care wait for atleast 10mins so that preferred executive gets connected and is ready to solve all your banking issues but just guide him where exactly it is written on hdfc bank website where imps is not chargeable so he can take request for reversal.
