Hi guys. Family is visiting Vietnam next week -
Ho chi min, Danang, Hanoi.

Will DCB work easily there or should i keep enough cash?
No matter your card works or not... you should always carry 500 dollar for each adult if you are traveling for around 6-10 days..
Sometime currency is asked to be shown at the immigration...

Diners is accepted in most large format stores. But in general, Diners is not reliable in most countries.
For Vietnam specifically, I suggest you carry USD currency notes and get them exchanged at gold shops. I got better rates than Google. But always check for google reviews before exchanging there because some places are scams. Get the bulk of it exchanged in HCMC and Hanoi as the other cities/towns offer bad conversion.

Diners acceptance in Vietnam is around 5 years behind Diners acceptance in India as Discover signed the deal with Vietnam's NPCI equivalent 5 years after the Indian partnership. However just in the last 2 years the acceptance in the last 2 years should have improved a lot due to BIDV implementing that partnership.

Feel free to test out Diners, but definitely keep a backup. AmEx should also work on vietcombank POS machines.

I used HDFC Diners Club Milennia in Thailand. It was a mixed experience. Some places it would work like in international brand stores but mostly it won't. I guess in Vietnam it would be similar experience. Always carry a Visa card and US dollars with you for emergency.

In Europe though experience is totally different, Diners is readily accepted except some places in France.
