BHIM app now supports UPI LITE

What is UPI LITE?
- UPI LITE is an on-device wallet for frequent low value transactions
- Applicable for transactions up to INR 200
- Experience faster low value transactions with a single click

How does UPI LITE work?
- Once enabled, all transactions of INR 200 and below will be processed using UPI LITE
- Smart top-up reminders will be prompted as and when UPI LITE balance is low
- Prior to approving payment, Customer will be notified about applicability of UPI LITE transaction
- Customer can also disable UPI LITE at any point in time. On disabling UPI LITE, funds lying in UPI LITE will be credited back to Customer's bank account

Enable UPI LITE
- Simply add funds to your UPI LITE using your bank account
- UPI PIN is mandatory for enabling UPI LITE
- UPI LITE balance is capped at INR 2000 at any point in time
- View UPI LITE balance on your device
- Your bank will support UPI LITE without any hidden charges

Disclaimer
- UPI transactions will be processed without UPI PIN
- Funds for enabling UPI LITE can only be added from your bank account
- Funds debited from your bank account towards UPI LITE top up will not bear any interest.
- Replenishable balance for an UPI LITE shall be only in online mode using UPI app with UPI PIN
- App password/ biometrics is mandatory for accessing UPI LITE
- SMS for UPI LITE transactions will be sent by your bank once a day, kindly refer to the status of the transaction on the BHIM App
- Customer can raise a dispute from the App for UPI LITE transactions

What's the point in launching this feature.
How will the payment processed with internet, ie if someone doesn't have access to internet how will the qr data be fetched??

RuPay card also have offline wallet contactless payment feature, without internet we can pay upto Rs200, after load money to our RuPay's offline wallet.

Same way, first we load money to our UPI Lite wallet in our UPI apps (starting with BHIM app) and then we can pay any QR code. No Internet connection needed, open UPI app, scan QR code and pay through UPI Lite, also no UPI PIN required.

It doesn't work offline and I have tested this. It gives "No Network Connectivity" error (screenshot attached). Also, if it was supposed to work offline NPCI would have mentioned it somewhere. If it worked for you do share the process and screenshot.

Ohh, i didn't test yet. Wait few days, UPI Lite will officially launch on Jio world centre, Mumbai, India (19th sept to 22nd sept, 2022).

We will get more details.

The eight banks where UPI Lite is currently supported are, Canara Bank, HDFC Bank, Indian Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, Union Bank of India, and Utkarsh Small Finance Bank.

More banks coming soon within a few months.

But I haven't received any till date. Did anybody receive such SMS alerts?

But NPCI says one will receive SMS alert at once of all transactions daily from his/her bank.😂

None enquired for the same, if so why users are not receiving and on which ground bank will send if it's not the part for making transactions.😂

It gets synchronised in case of Paytm 100%, might get syncyed with Phonepe and Google pay too but I hadn't tried whereas users had reported that UPI Lite balance in BHIM app got disappeared after reinstalling or in other cases.
