Lets talk about RuPay NCMC Debit/Prepaid Card/ RuPay Metro Card/ RuPay Transit Card and share your experience and help others:

Hi, NPCI now allow Banks, Metros, Buses to accept RuPay NCMC debit and NCMC Prepaid cards.

Many people are asking me how to activate RuPay NCMC debit card ? How to load money ? How to use etc.

What is RuPay NCMC Card ?

National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) is Transit Card/ Metro Card is India. Single Card use on any Metros, Buses, Toll, Parking, Railway, Para Transit & Retail shopping etc.

You will get offline Wallet based contactless Payments option. Load Money on your RuPay NCMC Offline Wallet and use any Metro AFC gates in India. Same like any Metro Cards in India. Some Indian buses are also start accepting RuPay NCMC cards.

How to activate RuPay NCMC Card ?

You RuPay NCMC Card activate through Metro counter and Metro staff will help you to activate your NCMC card feature.

How to load money on my RuPay NCMC Card Wallet ?

You can load money from Metro counters or Online from your bank Internet banking or Mobile banking app.

How to Use ?

Just Tab on entry AFC gate and exist time tab on exist AFC gate.

What is the limit for my offline RuPay NCMC wallet transaction ?

Well, limit is decided by the banks, i shared here Bank of Baroda RuPay NCMC debit card offline wallet transaction limit -

Note - The limit may change in the future.

• Maximum per transaction limit for money add transaction - Rs. 500.
• Maximum daily limit for money add transaction - Rs. 2000.
• No. of money add transactions allowed per day - 4.
• Maximum balance in card (stored value) at any point - Rs. 2000.
• Max per transaction limit for card for offline purchase - Rs. 200 (retail payments) & Rs. 2,000 (transit payments).
• Maximum daily limit for card for no. of offline purchase transactions - 20.

Delhi Metro -

Here Delhi Metro Offer 10% off on RuPay NCMC Card payment during peak hours and 20% off on non-peak hours.

Last time i heard Delhi Metro airport expressline accept RuPay NCMC Cards but now I see it is expanding to other Delhi Metro stations as well.

Bengaluru Metro -

Bengaluru Metro now supports all banks NCMC RuPay Debit cards, so there is no need to buy a new card to travel. Today I activated my SBI NCMC debit card service creation at the metro counter and loaded 200 Rs.

I travel by metro regularly in Bangalore, and today I checked at the Banashankari customer service counter if there was any possibility to link my existing SBI Rupay NCMC debit card. The person checked, created the service and loaded the amount.

Now the RuPay NCMC-enabled key chain is also supported to use metro stations,shopping malls and other contactless-enabled POS machines. Well done Omnicard app.

Mumbai BEST buses also accept RuPay NCMC Cards and they also issue their own Chalo BEST NCMC Card by yes bank but you can also use other RuPay NCMC Cards as well.

Note - @ Exclusive NCMC project means a single bank is selected by a transit operator who acts as issuer as well as acquirer.

@ Non-Exclusive NCMC project means any RuPay NCMC is accepted by the transit operator.

@ Issuer banks have provided money add option using internet banking/mobile banking to add money to the NCMC virtual account. After this the customer has to perform balance update transaction through any Add Value Machines (AVMs)/PoS terminals to write the amount on the card.

* NCMC cards of other banks will also get accepted in future as decided by Authority.

INR 100's kinda less, by BoB standards. They're charging INR 300+ taxes for my Platinum! I was in fact thinking of blocking it.

Btw this can be used at ATMs as well?

The 100 rs one is the most basic card that BoB has. It's a proper debit card. You get it with Advantage Savings Account.

They are rupay prepaid card, not credit card.

Recently, NPCI release a White paper about NCMC (actually, piche kuch saalo se USA pura pressure bana raha tha India pe, NCMC ka details share karne k liye, kuch time pahele he ek documents mere hath laga tha yuhi google search karte hue, USA roh raha tha. India ne NCMC ka details share nahi kiya ab tak). 🤣🤣

Anyway, NPCI k white paper me Credit card also mentioned there but i think currently you can directly use your CC on Metro AFC gates. No prepaid option available on RuPay Credit cards.

I heard that in some countries CREDIT CARD is accepted as payment for public transports even if the card has no balance left. If the amount is not received by the authority within a specific time then they will BLACKLIST the CC for further transactions.

I got this few years ago when it was launched. Added 100 INR for testing purpose. I can't use that card because CHENNAI METRO didn't accepted NCMC then.

I have PayTM's Transit Card and the most common issue is I cannot update the balance through the Kiosk in Delhi or Gurgaon Metro stations, I have to approach the PayTM's counter person to update the balance. Also only 1 or 2 exit or entry terminals accept Rupay Cards so that's another hassle. Other than that it has been smooth ride till now.

14-Apr-2023 - Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) said, “Soon, new RuPay NCMC cards that will be linked to bank accounts will be made available for commuters and it will function as a debit card and a wallet that can be used in transport systems. Commuters can go to the nearest bank branches and ask for RuPay cards that have NCMC facility.”

July 15, 2023 - Three months after its launch, commuters still cannot use the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) for making payment at the parking lots of Chennai Metro Rail stations.

‘Machines to be upgraded’​

CMRL officials said efforts were on to allow payment by the common mobility card at the parking lot but the process had not been completed. “We are working to upgrade the machines in the parking lot so that they accept this card as well. It should be completed within a month’s time.”

@Abhishek012 I have added the wallet balance with SBI a/c (Internet banking). I couldn't find that wallet option in their YONO app. TBH i never tried that card in AFC nor enquired in CHENNAI METRO ticket counter.

visit CHENNAI METRO ticket counter and they will help you to activate your NCMC wallet.

After add money into your offline wallet, you need to update the balance.

I think ICICI RuPay debit card is not supported NCMC (not sure) but ICICI have some RuPay NCMC Prepaid cards.

You can use on Amazon app and Amazon website as well.

Note - offer valid only on fridays and minimum payment is Rs129.

Do mobile recharge or utility bill payment on Amaozn and you will get flat 20% off upto max 100 on Amazon payment page. Once discount is showing, go to card otp page and pay.

Also note - if your card otp page is not open then delete your saved card and try. You can also use multiple cards on same Amazon account.

Axis Bank Kochi Metro Rupay card. There is card loading fee of 12. Additionally, it offers a 10% discount on the metro.
