From the referral page - The Annual Membership Renewal fee of Rs.1500 will be 100% waived off if total spends on American Express Credit Card in the immediately preceding membership year is Rs.1,50,000 and above; else 50% annual membership renewal fee will be waived off if total spends on American Express Credit Card in the immediately preceding membership year is Rs.90,000 to Rs.1,49,999.

Correct, which means this will be charged at the end of the 1st year, basis the spends on the card. Is my understanding correct?

Are Amex cards supported on HDFC bill pay for 1% cashbacks? Is the gold card which is a charge card applicable for HDFC bill pay 1% cashback as well?

Yes for mrcc, gold and plantium. Have numerous times and received 1%. Can't comment on charge card cause I don't have that card but it should work.

Is MRCC card good to take? Or Should I go with Platinum Travel? (I have other cards for lounge access) I wanted to understand what extra does Platinum travel offers to justify 5K renewal fees.
So platinum travel is for you if:
1. You want returns(cashback etc) in form of discounts on hotel stays. It gives Taj vouchers etc - you will get 7-8% return on your spend through this card
2. If you have 2L/4L spending per year that you can do through this card.
This is because it has milestones at 1.9L and 4L spending for the Taj vouchers. You must reach them to get the ~8% return

So if that's something you can utilise, choose plat travel.
Otherwise MRCC is good to go!

So, no spend based waiver condition for MRCC from Second year.Is it a flat 1500 fee ?
Ofcourse there is

If you do 90k+ spends you will pay 750

And that is easy to get, because 1500*4 txns themselves will get you to 72k
So if you get 20k spends in 1-2 months, you would have 750 as fees.

If you do 150k spends in a year, complete free!

I don't know if this has been answered before, hence asking again.. for MRCC, annual reversal, when are the annual fees charged? At the start of the year for the next year and then reversed when target spends are met or at the end if the year basis the spends.
Charged at the start of the year, if your last year's spends didn't meet the waiver milestone
Check here
