Banks removing Lounge benefits from non-premium cards

Banks now want you to pay(indirectly) for lounge access by paying a card fee.

As per the report banks now want to focus on premium cards for lounge access since their costs have now increased. That is something you can see whenever you go to a lounge. People get 10-15 cards and get in from whichever card they have a balance. This might not be possible.

Cost cutting has hit Banks as well now.

True, I hope banks will remove lounge access from entry level cards like flipkart axis etc.. It should only be allowed on either super premium card or travel cards..
There's no premium experience in lounges anymore due to overcrowding.

Completely agreed. One barely gets a seat let alone some peaceful space to relax nowadays.

And the queue. My god. That never ending queue. It completely destroys the feel good factor of Lounge access. Specially people who come to the counter, take out 15 cards and ask which one has access and which doesnt.

usually families of 4 , empyting their wallets just to get an access for free.
due to the heavy crowds i shifted to amex lounge in mumbai, now looking to take amex plat charge just for the sake of empty lounges

I believe the lounge access should be more digital, there should be separate queue for those with QR codes, rest of them who rely on the physical cards (with lots of them unaware if their card has access, OR are trying their luck) should have a queue as usual!

Dreamfolks implementation of QR is good and it's very easy to share lounge accesses with friends and family

This is how it was before. Mostly only premium/super premium cards got lounge access. Most banks went aggressive by introducing such perks to capture market share. Of course, it wasn't going to be feasible in the long run. Hopefully, with a lesser crowd to deal with, the lounges can put focus on their quality and service parameters.
